Straylight Run (http://www.straylightrun.com) will celebrate the recording of their first album by hitting the road with Rooney and Ozma in June and July. Produced by Michael Birnbaum (Coheed and Cambria, John Mayer, Bad Brains), their debut will be self-titled and is slated for release in September 2004. Anticipation for the album is high, as Straylight Run made the decision to release their demos as free downloads on their website, allowing thousands and thousands of fans to enjoy their first efforts for free.

Straylight Run began in May of 2003 when former members of Taking Back
Sunday, John Nolan and Shaun Cooper joined forces with former Breaking
Pangaea drummer Will Noon. The final piece of the puzzle fell into place
when John's sister Michelle came on board to play piano and guitar and sing with the band. The resulting music has been described as "...melding your copy of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours into your Fugazi discs." by Alternative Press.

Ok since you said John Mayer in this post, I really must say I like his song "Clarity". I can't really get into his other stuff, but there's something about that song.

My favorite JM song is a song called "tracing" ... acoustic, it's great. Totally off topic. :lol2:

eh who cares if it's off topic, I've been listening to this song all day, by far the best song to listen to when driving on a summer day.

I think straylight run is completely over rated, dont get me wrong i cant wait for this album either, they are definitly a good band. But they are not that amazing, johns voice fit better in a band like taking back sunday.

and john mayer makes just as bad songs as that marz character , although mayer is better at guitar, obviously, but that doesnt make up for his awful songs. When he sings he seriously sounds like a retard got drunk and started slurring even worse

I agree to a certain extent, as much as I'm looking forward to the Straylight Run full length, Taking Back Sunday's new one is what I'm focused on right now, I'm impressed at how well the new members adjusted their songwriting into the band.

Michael Birnbaum is fucking killer. I don't know many producers that go from mayer to coheed. The wonderful Rick Rubin comes to mind, but he's insane and we all know it. Run DMC to the mars volta??? insane. Anyway, I just thought I'd acknowledge the producer's cause those magician's never really get that much recognition.

what????????? are you talking about, i wasnt comparing him to adam, i think adams voice is unqiue yes, but i also know he gets alot of help from the studio, but this isnt about adam. im talking about john nolan and im not comparing him to adam im just saying that his voice suits the yelling to soft kind of sound.

I think he has a good voice he just needs to learn more on how to use it. There some songs on the album where he hits some awesome notes, that in no way i could hit. Now his voice live is another story cause the dude barely sings at all just mumbles shit. But either way im a fan of TBS. Oh and straylight kicks ass as well. I saw them at the free show they did at university of delaware and it blew me away.

I really can't wait for this. The Taking Back Sunday cd will be amazing as well. Straylight Run & Taking Back Sunday are two very special bands, unlike anything else.

I like straylight run because they remind me of some of the smashing pumpkins stuff (adore era) where billy corgan would play the piano and sing/scream. They had the band back up sometimes, too. Anyways, I miss the smashing pumpkins. And straylight run are awesome, I can't wait to hear their cd.

I've still never heard a Straylight Run song.

I guess I'll find out how incredible/good/bad/mediocre/overrated they are on Friday at the 930 Club as I have a free ticket.
