Sure record label's like Fat Wreck, Hellcat, Saddle Creek, etc never really change as far as the kind of bands they sign and promote due to the fact that the artists cater to the tastes of the artist who runs it. But of course label's like Drive Thru, FBR, Tooth & Nail, Victory, and Epitaph(who's been running over 25 years) their current catalog looks diffrent than it did when it started out. Drive Thru & FBR started out in the mid-late 90's with the skapunk/poppunk bands being the hott items, Tooth & Nail started out with a lot of Christian Metal & Industrial as well as Punk like MxPx and Ghoti Hook, Victory was definatly the home of 90's hardcore sXe bands, and Epitaph we'll while punk of all sorts have always been apart of their catalog, they definatly started adding artists of all very diffrent styles to their roster, with alot of their original bands finding new homes. Which of these do y'all feel have changed the most out of them all?

They've all changed a lot, but I chose Epitaph because MCS, Farewell and Sing It Loud do not fit with what epitaph used to be.

FBR.

i would say drive thru, but they still put out the same kind of music.

FBR has seemed to go much more mainstream, and have been dropping the bands that dont really tend to have more of a mainstream sound.

agreed. you could even throw the matches in to that category. i actually just looked at my poster from epitaph tour '05. motion city, matchbook romance, FFTL, the matches, and scatter the ashes. i think matchbook romance was kind of a "bridge" from epitaph to their harder bands to the more poppier bands they've had over the last few years.

Haven't they been on Epitaph for almost 8 years or so? I'm too tired to research this.

it's a tie between dtr and fbr but i chose fbr because it seems to become more corporate than dtr.

i was thinking "drive thru" before i even saw the choices.Victory was the same for me. The victory samplers from back in the day had very little I didn't like and they had a whole host of bands I loved. They put out After The Eulogy which is my favourite album ever. Now they have a handful of bands that I like, a whole host that suck and even the ones I like such as Comeback Kid put out a lousy record on Victory.

FBR. Drive-Thru has changed as in gotten worse, but I think they're still trying to do the same thing they did back in the glory days, it's just not happening. Whereas, Vinnie left FBR, and they've veered off in a completely different direction since then.

FBR because of how much they've blown up within the past few years... Drive Thru has definitely lost what it had, so I would pick that as second just because of how little influence it has on the scene anymore.

This was hard to choose, but I picked Epitaph, not in a bad way though. From having bands on the Punk O Rama comps. to bands like Farewell, Motion City Soundtrack, Weakerthans, Sing It Loud, and such that is a big change. Not saying it's bad, I like some but they have a different variety of sounds now.

Even though Drive Thru changed, they still sign poppy bands.

Same with Fueled By Ramen, they still sign poppy bands. They might sound different but some did get signed when Vinnie owned the label.

Victory always had a wide variety so I don't think they changed all too much

Same with Tooth And Nail, they always had different types of music since they started, never heard of them because they didn't do good. Watch Tooth And Nail video comps. and you will see.

Point is I think Epitaph changed the most.

def epitaph. lets not forget they also released Atmosphere's "Seven's Travels" a few years back.

i will say that drive thru has definatly gotten into the whole folky/roots/americana indie rock thing(house of fools, roark, biirdie, an angle 'the poor man's bright eyes', dave melillio, etc) i mean steel train was definatly the red-headed step child years ago, but you know it seems like they always do that, they'll have a roster of similar bands with one stand out, and then just sign a bunch of bands with similar elements, its like in the 90's it was ska/punk(rx bandits the key, which is funny cause now they've become more like at the drive-in/mars volta mixed w/oingo boingo), then come 00 nfg and midtown were the archetype's, then finch & somthing corporate became the new outsiders, and not too long they started signing more hardcore-ish and indie pop stuff, then comes steel train, a couple years pass along with a bob dylan tribute album and drive thru has become more like a more mainstream pop-oriented Saddle Creek. not that any of this is bad, keeping it fresh is great, but it seems like dtr keeps moving their veteran acts down towards the storage room, until they find a new home.

oh and you, me, and everyone we know, while have some potetnial talent(song writing needs work tho) right now they are the poor man's panic at the disco, or maybe just the new panic!@/the (http://www.absolutepunk.net/) Disco, since panic has become the new Sgt Pepper's lol

dtr slightly over fbr. yes fbr changed to more mainstream music but I mean that was more of a natural progression as opposed to drive thru which seemed to completely ignore their roots altogether.

DTR followed by FBR in a close second place finish.

Both of those labels used to contain great music. Now neither do.

i voted for drivethru cause they were at the top of the world and really have nothing now... fbr changed but at the same time decaydance took what would be fbr and fbr took a more mainstream standing. and epitaph changed for the better imo

Drive-thru is a whole lot different, I remember picking up "You'll Never Eat Fast Food Again" and it being full of all my favorites, Midtown, Nfg, Fenix Tx, and of course thos damn bandits. Honestly i kind of wrote off DTR after HelloGoodbye, but they still have some artist i like such as STeel Train and Halifax but thats about it.

fbr; while i still enjoy a lot of their stuff, new and recent (hush shound, fob, tai, and a few others), they seem to have broadened their scope of artists (gym class heroes, cobra starship), and some of their releases are altogether bland (the cab is a big one for me). sometimes i think they sign bands only b/c they see potential in a couple of tweeners in the front row. i still buy some of their stuff, but they have lost some stock in my eyes, even if their actual stock is through the roof....

epitaph.
the higher, mcs, farewell, sing it loud. the matches changed their style.

none are even close to 'punk'

they just signed phantom planet.
& they've kept the hush sound of there.
then there's gym class heroes which isn't like any of the other bands.
& panic's new album is way different.
& forgive durden is remarkable.

I said Drive Thru, but I'd also say FBR in the complete opposite direction. More than a quarter of their current roster are making a shit load for them.

DTR though. Tut tut.

Victory. They went from Snapcase and Refused to Hawthorne Heights.

This poll should have been called "Out of the following labels that USED to be good, which one canged the most?" All these labels used to be great and now each pretty much suck with a few exceptions here and there.

Epitaph.

It used to have the best punk bands in the world, now its home to some of the shittest bands in the world
