View Full Version : Upcoming Pixar

There's alot in store for upcoming Pixar movies, so let's discuss...
June 18, 2010: Toy Story 3
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0e/TS3_logo_4.JPG
The premise features Woody the cowboy, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of their toy-box friends being dropped off at a day-care center after their owner, Andy, departs for college
June 2011: Cars 2
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/25/Cars_2.png
Lasseter mentioned, "This time we’re going international."
Christmas 2011: The Bear & The Bow
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d0/Thebearandthebowlogo.PNG
In mythical Scotland, Merida, a member of the royal family, decides to give up her family name for her dream of becoming an archer. Merida makes some kind of reckless choice, resulting in the destruction of her father's kingdom and her mother's life. Merida then struggles to set things right.
TBA: Newt
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6f/Newtlogo.PNG
Newt and Brooke live in a community college science lab and don't care for each other, yet as the last remaining blue-footed newts on the planet they are forced to mate to save the species. Rydstrom explained "Newt is smart but he's never had to think for himself and is pampered. Brooke on the other hand is streetwise and not to be messed with.
Stoked for Up, Toy Story 3 and Newt the most. But it's Pixar, I'm sure they will all turn out very good.

Up sounds awesome. And of course I'm excited for TS3. Haven't heard much about the others, yet. Newt sounds somewhat cliche (book smart vs. street smart). I have mixed feelings about Cars 2, but I have faith that pixar won't fuck up.

it feels wrong that the animated movie I'm most excited for is dream works (monsters vs.aliens)
the cast list is incredible though
Reese Witherspoon (http://www.variety.com/profiles/people/main/30620/Reese%20Witherspoon.html?dataSet=1) , Hugh Laurie (http://www.variety.com/profiles/people/main/34849/Hugh%20Laurie.html?dataSet=1), Will Arnett (http://www.variety.com/profiles/people/main/50380/Will%20Arnett.html?dataSet=1), Seth Rogen (http://www.variety.com/profiles/people/main/880489/Seth%20Rogen.html?dataSet=1), Rainn Wilson (http://www.variety.com/profiles/people/main/35219/Rainn%20Wilson.html?dataSet=1), Stephen Colbert (http://www.variety.com/profiles/people/main/46293/Stephen%20Colbert.html?dataSet=1), Kiefer Sutherland (http://www.variety.com/profiles/people/main/29952/Kiefer%20Sutherland.html?dataSet=1) and Paul Rudd (javascript:zodInfuser.FillDescript ions('Paul Rudd');)

I don't see the need for another Cars. The first one was decent, but not good enough for me to see the next one.
I'm stoked for TS3 though. The original is hands down one of my top 5 favorite movies.
And is it just me or does The Bear & the Bow seem kind of dark for a Pixar movie?

Yea, I think Cars is the oddest choice for a sequel. One of my least favorite Pixars thus far

I can't remember, when did we actually see the first Wall-E trailer, or at least teaser?
Not really too stoked for Cars 2. I wasn't a fan of the first one.
I hope Toy Story 3 is better than the second, but Newt and Up sound awesome.
I need to read more about Bear and The Bow. This is my first time hearing about it.

That cast does look interesting. I only liked Kung-Fu Panda though.
I'm a Pixar elitist because of the association with Disney. Disney has produced the best animation, imo. I mean anime has taken the art further but Disney started it all, again imo.
I find it odd how little is actually known about Up at this point, I really really wanted to see a trailer before Wall-E but sadly did not get one

The cast does look awesome, but either way it's unlikely to top a Pixar film. Pixar could record my bathroom session after a Taco Bell run for the voices of a film and it would still turn out better than any other current animated studio's releases.

I do think Incredibles would be the most logical sequel because they can kinda have a fresh start with new villians and everythig but not drastically changing the overall big theme of superheroes saving the day
With Cars they can't have him being a growing success story anymore, Nemo can't get lost again, they can't lose the kid in Monsters Inc again, Wall-E can't save the earth again, and stuff like that.

Nemo and Dori can have a kid that gets lost
and you forgot a bug's life, that could have a decent sequel if I remember the movie correctly, it's been about 10 years

well my point is more that in Nemo a kid getting lost again would not be worth watching, but for Incredibles i would watch another crime-fighting story. and i left out bugs life because it's been so long and i forget most of the plot

I was joking about finding nemo II haha, but yeah superhero movies in general are usually pretty open to sequels, and an Incredibles sequel would be good especially because Jack would get to use his powers more since they kind of threw that in at the end of the first one
not sure if I needed spoilers but it can't hurt

Cars, even though it's my least favorite from Pixar, is far from a bad movie. I love the sequence during the closing credits. If Lasseter directs it, I would definitely watch the sequel.
