Yes I said MC Hammer. No I'm not joking. It was by far the funniest concert I've ever been to in my life. The Tampa Bay Rays have been doing concert nights this summer following Saturday games, and tonight was 90's night with Hammer. I've never seen this many people in Tropicana Field (granted, attendance is up because they're actually good this year, but I'm pretty sure it was sold out). Half the crowd was drunk and doing the Hammer dance the whole time, which made for quite the environment. He did a bunch of songs I've definitely never heard, and then finally went with "Have You Seen Her," "Pray," and "2 Legit 2 Quit" (which was great seeing thousands of people do the hand motions). He did a couple other songs and then left. If you would have told me 15 years ago that in 2008 I would be at an MC Hammer concert cheering for an encore I would have called you a liar. But anyway, he came back out and did "U Can't Touch This" which of course incited more drunken hammer dancing (and some people even brought out the Hammer pants). His one clear mistake was not ending with that song, though. He decided to do one more after that, and nobody cared (I don't think there are too many Hammer die hards at this point, or at least I hope not). I almost felt bad for him, because literally the whole crowd left while he was doing that last song. Anyway, $10 for a baseball game followed by an MC Hammer concert isn't a bad deal. After all, how many more chances in my life will I have to experience Hammer Time? Not many....
