Brand New played a 50 minute set at Download Festival tonight in Mountain View, CA.
Played right after Mute Math (who played Chaos, Typical, Stare at the sun, Break The same, Reset and one other) & before Gang of Four.
Luca
Sowing Seasom
Sic Transit Gloria
Okay I Believe You...
New song - heavy on the screaming, sounded good.
Millstone
Jesus
Degausser
You Won't Know
As for other acts I caught at today's DL fest, Vedera, The Parlor Mob, Cut///Copy, Natalie Portman's Shaved Head, The Whigs, Datarock, & Yeasayer were all cool too.

Did the new song have lyrics about trees and brickhouses?

I almost went to this about 7 times and ultimately decided not to. And looking at that setlist I'm kind of glad I decided against it... TDAGARIM doesn't do anything for me personally, and it would be the second time I paid to see them play a setlist made up of mostly that record.
One of these days though I would love to see MuteMath though.

I prefer the TDAGRIM heavy set.
That stuff just rocks live.
A little Deja here & there would be nice too though...

yes, the song was the one jesse's been playing during his shows. it sounded really good live. good show tonight, except sic transit sounded really horrible.

Sic Transit usually doesnt sound that great cuz Jesse sings like every word and it seems really rushed/fast
just my opinion though

was natalie portman's shaved head any good? i kind of liked what i heard on myspace but i really wanted to see mates of state so i chose that.

i really liked them live last night, but i think i'd rather see them in a venue setting for sure.
the sound just wasn't cool at all pretty much the whole day on the main stage.
i caught the airborne toxic event, william fitzsimmons, a little of datarock, yeasayer, the whigs, mates of state, cut///copy, mutemath, and brand new. i would probably pay to see william fitzsimmons, mates of state, mates of state, or the whigs again.. and brand new haha. i have a video of the new song, but i'm 98% sure it would be totally distorted

Those kids were a lot of fun and managed to get a lot of the people who'd be just sitting on the grass and watching all day to stand up and dance.
Not sure if I'd like 'em on record, but live, ya they're fun.

Davey goes to every hardcore, electronic, or festival show in the Bay Area if he's in town. I think it's kinda cool, that he still goes and supports and everything.
Sucks for the dude who dislocated his knee if that really happened.

More of a balanced set would make me happy, I guess. TDAGRIM is a bit too mellow for me, it all kind of drags together for me no matter how many times I've tried to like it. But if they mixed it up a little more it might be more fun live IMO.
I went to the tour they did last year with Thrice and was bored during a lot of their set because it was all material I didn't know or care for. They put on a good show but it was like seeing a band you've never heard before instead of one you've been listening to for 6 years.

Jesse also dedicated "Degausser" to his World of Warcraft character named "Ralph Nader".

Musically the new song is rad but I absolutely do not like his vocals at all. I really hope thats not what the new songs will sound like recorded.

did you see the vids when they played bamboozle '06 and they played you won't know for the first time? it sounded bad then, but it's one of the, if not the, best songs on tdag. you don't have much to worry about.
