Hey. I need some help. I have this friend who is just an all around amazing writer. And she's really trying to get her shit published without self-publishing it. So if any of you work for like a publishing company or have a friend/family/mate that works for one, please contact me. Either via instant messanger (AIM = Finch1182 MSN = angelwiththscabbedwings1@hotmail.co m Yahoo = sk8erpunk45320) or you can send an email to any of those but AIM or on the messageboard or PM me. Just please if you know anyone, contact me. I'd really like to see her get published. She's such an amazing writer

This is a summary of information which I've gathered from several writing classes with professional writers:
The best thing for a starting writer to do is to get the Writer's Market series, whichever applies to the type of writing she's doing. Connections like you're asking for may help, but there's no guarantee. She's gotta stand behind the strength of her work, and no connection will help with that. Connections only work once a writer has established him or herself.
Aside from that, there's a few excellent books on self-editing (editors really aren't what they used to be.) Shopping around for an agent may help if she's into novel-length stuff, but agents only promise they'll show your work, something anybody can do for themselves.
Basically she's just got to start sending her work out. If it's a novel, she's gotta have a complete final draft. There are plenty of other similar "guidelines" and such.
It would be nice if someone just came up and said they'd publish her, but that probably won't happen. Of course, if it does, more power to her. But in the mean time, the best thing to do is just go full-bore and start sending out to publishing houses.
I hope I didn't come off as discouraging, I was just telling you what I know. I am also working on stuff that will hopefully eventually be published, so I've been looking up a lot of stuff on this particular topic.
Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who works for a publishing company (or has for any extended period of time), so I guess I was a little off-topic.
Good luck to your friend.
