9/11 Commission (http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/06/16/911.commission) says, "No credible evidence" of link between Iraq and al Qaeda in 9/11, this coming just days after the 8 pages of "terror report" errors ...

there are also documents found in Iraq that contradict that...

Documents that for some reason the commision our goverment created to find such don't have? If I were you I'd call my congressman and let them know about those - cause I think they would love to have 'um.

/ I almost didn't even post this news article because I figured it was common knowledge now ... guess I was wrong.

/ Can't wait to watch J. Steward tonight.

I think by now everyone pretty much knows this war was a waste of time, but people just dont want to admit that their government was wrong. People need to remember George Washingtons qoute "Love your country, but you should fear and watch your government."

I'm gonna agree with you on that one ... we are catching the tail end of those who want to go down with the ship and place their fingers in their ears as they say, "la la la la la la la la la la no one lies la la la la la la la la" ... sorta sad, as I said, I felt almost bad posting this one ...

OUR government has done nothing to affect your everyday life to the point of it being so damn bad to be an American and live here. I know you're not ignorant, you should know how much better we have things the rest of the world. If you really don't like it here, go to France. I'm sure you both would be welcomed there.

of course our lives are good here, thats why I stay here. I love America and assume Tate does too, thats why we want to save our government from horrible leaders and false wars. Dometically speaking we are doing well, but our international relations will come back to haunt us. Im sure our forefathers would agree with me that a person who questions the faults of his government is far more patrotic then anyone who blindly believes everything the government says.

yeah, i should have clarified, there are documents that support the theory that al-qaeda and Iraq had ties, not that iraq was involved in 9/11. i too, thought that was common knowledge. anyway, as always there are 2 sides to the coin and unfortunately this site only reports one side of that. if you are going to post real news on the site i would hope that it would be somewhat balanced, but its your site, you can do whatever you want....i just think that the report of 20 banned missles from iraq that were found in jordan was newsworthy.

why is it you assume that people who support the government do so, "blindly"?

You're right. Please tell that to some of your fellow (but more ignorant) conservatives on these forums. I've seen far too many people say we needed to go to Iraq because of 9/11 and how "we can't let them get away with what they did to us on that day!" I know that you and yeat know there is no link, but some people really are that dumb...

for the record, no one ever said they were an imminent threat, it was said that they needed to be stopped before they became one, because at that point, it would be too late.

also, they are starting to uncover banned weapons.

"Bush acknowledged there was no evidence that Saddam's government was connected to those attacks." - CNN

there's a difference in saying that Iraq had ties with al-Qaeda and ties with 9/11

Also, those Cheney quotes say that Iraq was a "geographic base"...not that Saddam was part of it

I think everybody pretty much agrees that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, but Saddam did support terrorism

Wrong.

"No terrorist state poses a greater or more immediate threat to the security of our people and the stability of the world than the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq."
• Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, 9/19/02

"Some have argued that the nuclear threat from Iraq is not imminent - that Saddam is at least 5-7 years away from having nuclear weapons. I would not be so certain. And we should be just as concerned about the immediate threat from biological weapons. Iraq has these weapons."
• Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, 9/18/02

"This is about imminent threat."
• White House spokesman Scott McClellan, 2/10/03

Well, of course he is.”
• White House Communications Director Dan Bartlett responding to the question “is Saddam an imminent threat to U.S. interests, either in that part of the world or to Americans right here at home?”, 1/26/03

"Absolutely."
• White House spokesman Ari Fleischer answering whether Iraq was an "imminent threat," 5/7/03

It's pretty obvious that Iraq was not involved with the attacks of 9/11, but I'm not fully convinced that everyone believes that. The argument that Saddam supported terrorism seemed to be used by the Adm. as a connection to 9/11 to gain support for the war. I think that most people have no problem with our war in Afganhistan, which went after Al Qaeda and is trying to catch Osama Bin Laden, but I think that the Bush Adm. would like to have people think that their is a connection to the wars, when in actuality, there is none. That connection is to say "well saddam did support terrorism." Nevermind that it probably wasn't related to any attacks on America, and that there are many other nations who probably support terrorism, Bush would rather have support for HIS war.

have any of you heard of a terroist by the name Al-Zarqawi. well this guy runs his own terrorist organization that is basically a part of Al Qaeda. he was running a terrorist camp in northern Iraq that produced Al Qaeda operatives. and when we invaded and took over this little camp what did we find ? well among training grounds for explosives and poison there was a nice full sized passenger plane. wow i wonder what they used that for? I agree that Saddam was not directly linked to 9/11 but the guy allowed terrorists to train in his country. Saddam was undeniably linked to Al Qaeda and by supporting Al qaeda he helped 9/11 take place.

and when saddam is responsible for the deaths of almost a million people, i really dont care if he was involved in 9/11

Just to be ironic, and not to suggest it's exactly the same situation, cause it isn't, but we also allowed terrorists to train in our country. Individuals who were suspected by the FBI trained to fly jumbo jets in Florida and Minnesota and elsewhere. Also, I don't think Saddam had much influence in the North of Iraq; in fact, I'm pretty sure the UN (read: us) actually had more control there than he did.

This is the attitude that Bush wants you to have. If he can get everyone to think, "hey, saddam was a bad guy....we don't need any other reason to invade," then people forget that there is no good motive to go into Iraq. The US should not be the police-force of the world, no matter how much George wants us to be. Was saddam a bad guy? Yes.....but does that mean we can invade his country and kill Iraqis and risk our own soldiers lives.....Absolutely Not!

Please don't tell me that I'm brainwashed. That being said, Saddam does support terrorism, and has definite links to al-Qaeda (9/11 Commission said that, but Tate failed to mention that didn't he?), and as much as you don't want to believe this, Iraq is a continuation of the war on terror. The only reason they were chosen first, was because there were also other reasons that we should/could go in. If there are 60 countries that support or fund terrorism, and one has broken 17 UN Resolutions, has used WMDs on his own citizens, and has a continuing weapons program (I still believe he did, and more evidence is coming out that he did), I think you'd choose the most severe to go to first. 9/11 is not an "excuse" or whatever else you'd make it out to be just to fight "his" war.

This is a war on terror, not a war on those people who committed the acts of 9/11 solely. Many different terrorists groups are a threat to us and our allies, not just al-Qaeda.

Isolationism doesn't work in today's world.

Bush and his administration lied, man. they said things were in iraq (wmd's) that weren't, said the man was a terrible danger when he wasn't (sorry imminent wasn't used), and said they played a role in 9/11 when they didn't.

THEY ARE LIARS.

they didn't lie. the entire world (a unanimous UN) felt that saddam possesed WMD's. they may be wrong (i doubt it, but maybe) but they didn't lie simply because nothing has been found. being incorrect doesn't make you a liar.

I think I know the Cheney speech you're talking about and he never once mentioned a connection between 9/11 and Iraq.
