Rumor has it that The Chiodos Bros. (http://www.thechiodosbros.com) recently met with a few representatives from Island/Def Jam Records among a few others to discuss their upcoming release.

These guys are decent but they're not THAT good. Lately, it's turning out to a classic case of labels signing bands and throwing them to the masses and hoping one sticks. They should sign bands who've put years of work into what they do (like they have Thrice and Thursday) instead of these bands that relatively no one's ever heard of.

The Chiodos Bros have been around for years -- the first show I ever saw them play, Coheed and Cambria were opening for them in Flint - that was back in like, early 2002. By then, the band already had an acoustic CD and an EP circulating through the scene. They've spent the past couple years touring the country and developing a following without the luxury of big-label promotion and advertising. They're drawing hundreds of kids on the opposite coast from where they live. They're also the nicest guys around.

As for whether or not this rumor is true... (I'm their publicist)... I have not heard anything of the sort. However, given the hard work the band has put in, I wouldn't doubt it if someone wanted to take the band to the next level. As of now, though, they are a Search and Rescue Records band, and are slated to go into the studio to record their sophomore album with Jesse Cannon in July. Unless something drastic happens, their next album is slated to be on Search and Rescue Records sometime late this summer/early fall.

if a band is good then their good, i dont think it matters how long they've been around...but i would like to point out what an unconvincing paragraph that was about how they've paid their dues. 2002 huh? ive been a part of the "scene" for quite a while so i dont feel bad about passing judgement. but nothing against the band, they are pretty decent.

no no no...

What I was saying is... the first time I SAW them was in 2002... at that point, they ALREADY had two CDs under their belt... they wouldn't stick coheed below chiodos bros on a bill unless TCB had established some cred in the scene by that point... I'm just saying, they're not just some undeserving fly-by-night band.
