Yeah, definitely Juno...

I don't think either of the two films you mentioned are overrated. People just go crazy when Hollywood actually makes a good movie, and for 2 of them to come out at the same time and both be nominated had people shittin' bricks.

Death-proof sucked balls, but all the reviews I read said it would. Planet teroor was good really kicked ass

I liked Donnie Darko but it's such a cliche to say that you like it nowdays. Richard Kelly's new film Southland Tales sucked

Agreed. I get that Quentin likes to have a lot of dialogue in his scenes to flesh out the characters and make us care for them, but for god's sake man it's an exploitation movie! It doesn't need awesome characters (Except the killer of course).

I'd say Knocked Up. I didn't laugh once.

I thought the middle of Superbad dragged quite a bit, and the lack of plot didn't really help it move along.

Haha, I love Knocked Up so much. The "double-date" scene at the restaurant with Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen riffing off each other kills me every time.

I think he totally tries too hard, like you'll see a clock and just know that it was put at that time because he is referring to some obscure japanese cult classic that only he has seen. Or just everline in the script is homage to something else. His new WW2 film looks good tho.

i dont agree with donnie darko at all. just because its "cool" to like it doesnt mean its overrated. especially the directors cut of it. absolutely brilliant.

i would say juno for sure. i liked it. but it wasnt as amazing as everyone made it out to be.

Agreed. I get that Quentin likes to have a lot of dialogue in his scenes to flesh out the characters and make us care for them, but for god's sake man it's an exploitation movie! It doesn't need awesome characters (Except the killer of course).

I'd say Knocked Up. I didn't laugh once.

In the literal sense of the word "overrated", I think it is. Especially right now. Right now people are near hysteric over the film and even the poor spots (however minimal there are) are being completely overlooked because of just how excited people were over the film. It'll cool down, I think.

Well dude, it was 1990, before he started doing all of his oscar-worthy work and stuff. Many people, including myself, still love all of his old movies such as this one, big, splash, etc.

(So no, it's not a Hollywood masterpiece...but millions of people still love it!)

Adeniz19
07/24/08, 08:16 AM
uhhhh yes when tons people call a movie absolutely brilliant when it's not in MY eyes then its overrated. if no one liked a movie then how can it be overrated smart guy? people can argue that NONE of these movies are underrated if they wanted to.

i can call the original poster an idiot for thinking NCFOM is overrated or you for TDK but I won't. It's your opinions and I know people don't all like the same thing. But I will call you an idiot for taking a movie so fucking seriously.

I guess my take is this movie finally delievered to the hype.. in this decade lots of movies have been hyped and they failed miserably. I think this movie changed that.

(So no, it's not a Hollywood masterpiece...but millions of people still love it!)I know none of his early works are Hollywood masterpieces but most have a certain Sunday afternoon family movie quality to them. Big, Splash and The Man With One Red Shoe all fall in here, not so much Batchelor party. So I'm not hating on all Tom Hanks early work just Joe vs The Volcano.
