while we're talking big reviews of big bands, does someone here want to review the new wilco album? i don't trust rolling stone or spin all that much. in fact, reviewing yankee hotel foxtrot would be cool as well.

I'm sure Pitchfork will have a long, pretensious review up tomorrow...I don't think AP should be your source for indie reviews

the album art is really good for this one, i think they might have recruited a few 2nd graders for some assistance, you'll see what i mean. robert smith also belts out some cursing on this one which i dont think ive ever heard in a cure song. i wont say anything about the songs till the review is posted except that theres a little bit of old and new throughout.

Believe me, Robert has cursed plenty of times in the past. It doesn't really matter, but the fact that he doesn't curse all the time makes it that much more powerful when he does. When Robert says fuck, you know he's pissed.

As for an AP.net review of this album. I'm kind of worried actually. I'm afraid that a lot of the readers of this site will jump on the Cure bandwagon when people like me have been immersing myself in their music well before they collaborated with blink-182. Honestly, did you guys see a lot of Cure news on this site before then? No dice. I think I am more fit to review the new Cure CD seeing as I have their entire discrography to reflect on rather than a blink-182 song, but alas Geffen doesn't send me free shit in the mail so I have to wait, just like everyone else.

Disintegration, In Between Days, Play For Today, The Same Deep Water As You, Killing An Arab, Cold, Primary, A Japanese Dream, Lullaby, One Hundred Years, the Burn b-side, Fire In Cairo, and believe it or not, Mint Car, are the songs that are coming to my head right now. Let's just say my favorites change depending on my mood and there isn't much that I don't like. It's nice to know there are some REAL fans on this board.

Oh and I can't forget "Push!"

My favorite of the new songs I've heard thus far has to be "Lost."

Yeah, I've noticed the site jumping on the Cure "bandwagon" after Robert did the song with Blink 182. And I know I'm selfish and dumb and retarded for saying this, but I really wish the site hadn't done that because I've liked the Cure since 7th grade and I just want them all to myself. All mine.

However what sickened me the most was one of the headlines used for a Cure posting was something along the lines of "an emo kids' wet dream."

to me it doesnt matter when people started likeing the cure, its pretty stupid that people are makeing a big deal out of it. As long as they like thier music and arent saying they like the cure just to try to be "cool". And the song robert smith did with blink is really good, I m not surprised at all that more people are listening to the cure now, its pretty gnarly in fact.

The song is good. I'll be the first to agree with you there, but I want you to go to www.blink182.com some day and read the comments some of their fans make. I am a fan myself, but I say that with a tounge-in-cheek attitude because so many of their fans are darwinian nightmares. Perhaps I am being a bit drastic, but I really love the Cure and I gringe when I run into a "fan" who downloaded a few of their singles in order to call himself that.

There's a huge difference between people who have been fans of a band for years and those who have been in to them for weeks.

I've been a small Cure fan for quite a while and just recently got really into them. However it was because of Blink. In fact until now I didn't even know Robert was on their new album because they suck and I didn't bother listening to it. Don't think that's why everyone is jumping on. The Cure have been around so long for a reason. They always attract new people.

I've been a fan of the cure for like a year now.. and I have 5 of their albums.. and I absolutly love them and i discovered them in an aggressive-inline-movie were I fell in love with Boys Don't Cry. Close To Me, Friday I'm In Love, Love Cats and Why Cant I be You? are some of my fav. songs.. its hard to pick though...

Seriously though why does it matter if you're an elite "I've liked them since I was born" fan or if you heard the singer on the new Blink cd and liked them. Why does it even matter if "a lot of the readers of this site will jump on the Cure bandwagon ". Wouldnt that be a good thing? A band as good as The Cure that's been around so long is still drawing in new fans

very nicely put.
you sir are awesome.

It get's a bit annoying seeing all the pretentious "fans since I was born" kids go on and on how they've liked them before everyone and no one new is allowed to like their band.

Alright man, we are going to end up beating a dead horse here. There is some truth to what you are saying, but I think you have to actually attain an understanding for the type of annoyence some of us feel. Perhaps when it happens to one of your favorite bands you'll understand. I will always respect new fans so long as they take a REAL interest in the music and even go back to listen to some of the stuff they've missed out on.

My real point from the beginning was that I feel I would be more fit to review the new Cure album than Jason Tate. I have not the slightest idea of how big a Cure fan he actually is. For all I know he could be wearing black eyeliner and lipstick right now, but I have a sneeking suspicion that I could do a Cure album review justice over fan boy Tate.
