View Full Version : ok, so what T.V. show should I get into?

My last favourite T.V. show was The O.C. and that's been gone for ages now (don't hate on it, that show has some of the best music I've ever heard, Nada Surf, DCFC, Underoath, Jimmy Eat World, Imogen Heap, Joseph Arthur, Mates of State, Modest Mouse) and the list goes on.

Not to mention Seth Cohen was a legend lol...

But Anyway since that got killed off, I've been kind of been in a desert land so to speak, I have nothing to watch - what's good out there people?

You should be able to get an idea of what sort of show(s) I'd like by the above...

Commence recommending......... now!

Lost
Arrested Development
The Office
Weeds
Nip/Tuck (First 3-4 seasons)
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

They're not all that similar to the OC, but they're great, IMO.

So is Gossip Girl, but i'm not really liking what i've been watching :thumbdwn:

Are there any shows out there that compare to the O.C. music wise? but are still great to watch, you'll have to forgive me guys, I haven't seen a single episode of the ones you've all just mentioned. So I'm kind of clueless on what's good atm.

Anyone else?

I'll youtube the one's you guys have mentioned...

Thanks :-)

You'll like Chuck, trust me. Has some good music choices, the main character definitely resembles Seth from The O.C. and it's just a really fun show. I think episodes are on Hulu, dunno though, we don't get Hulu in the UK.

Season 1 had 13 episodes thanks to the writer's strike, season 2 starts in September.

My sisters watch One Tree Hill and it admittedly has good music throughout, like The O.C. seems to have, but the show is shit.

the o.c. was great in it's first season, the rest was shit.

if you like that then you'll obviously LOVE one tree hill, similar unrealistic schmaltz set to the soundtrack of semi-popular indie bands.

i'd also recommend friday night lights, show about young teenagers with a good soundtrack (tv on the radio/explosions in the sky).

but if i could reommend ANYTHING regardless of yr taste then you need to see six feet under, the sopranos, flight of the conchords and the wire.

Dexter. Not OC-esque as all, but still worth checking out.
Also: Pushing Daisies, It's Always Sunny

Six Feet Under was the best time I've ever spent in front of a television. It'll change the way you view your life.

veronica mars sounds like exactly what you're looking for. its got that OC vibe to it (with a pretty good soundtrack), but it is a lot better written and has much better characters.

Second season was alright. I think Olivia Wilde made up for that though.

Dexter is a little slow at first but after the first few episodes, it seems like there are cliffhangers every episode that leaves you wanting more

I have every intention of ignoring your tastes and saying Boston Legal and Doctor Who.

Boston Legal you may not like, but you seem like one of those people who enjoys fun and the only fun you're really going to have is with the Doctor so Doctor Who it should be.

Also, if you've been searching your whole life for the absolute most amazing television show on nearly every level . . . your search ends now because that show is The Wire.

Just a heads up for ya.

ok so just a follow up...

Went to the video story shortly after i got a few replies in this thread,

They had Season 2 of weeds but not season 1 or 3 (fuckin losers), only a few seasons of niptuck, and only the first season of veronica mars... (unbelievable shit). I don't really like The Office or Lost.

So i ended up renting veronica mars and season 2 of weeds, now i'm hanging to know what happens next and they don't have any follow up seasons. Apparently it has something to do with the region i'm in (DVD - Region 4) we get releases late :(

I know Veronica Mars DVDs weren't released outside of America so it's probably Region 1. Might want to make sure you're player can play it first. Wonder if it's the same with Weeds. I know we've got it here in the UK, dunno about Australia though.

All my dvd players (except my xbox) are region free, so that's not a prob, I just won't be able to find any non-region 4 dvds here... So i guess no V.Mars and no weeds for a while at least...

Which really burns me cos now I'm hanging to know what the fuck happens in both.
