In case you've somehow failed to get the memo, Say Anything (www.sayanythingmusic.com)'s debut album ...Is A Real Boy will be in stores August 3rd from Doghouse Records (www.doghouserecords.com). This is, hands down, the best album I've heard this year. There is not one thing about it I don't like and not a single thing I would change. This is going to be the record everyone is talking about. On July 27th when the new Taking Back Sunday album comes out, do yourself a favor and hold on to your 12 bucks for an extra week and buy this instead! Here is the album's tracklisting:
1) Belt
2) Woe
3) The Writhing South
4) Alive With The Glory Of Love
5) Yellow Cat (Slash) Red Cat
6) The Futile
7) Spidersong
8) An Orgy Of Critics
9) Every Man Has A Molly
10) Slowly, Through A Vector
11) Chia-Like, I Shall Grow
12) I Want To Know Your Plans
13) Admit It!!!
Be sure to check out Say Anything on the Absolutepunk.net Tour going on now! Click here (www.absolutepunk.net/tour) for more info.

So what you're saying is...
This record will better than Danzig's? (Maybe, he's getting old.)
Better than the Nekromantix was? (I doubt it)
Better than Tiger Army? (No way)
BETTER THAN MAD SIN?! (In your dreams!)
I dunno, all this hype that "This is the BEST record of the year!" is really weird. I mean, how can one person hear every record in one year?

Wow, or you know, you could just tell people to buy the Say Anything album, rather than being a fanboy. I don't know exactly why the statement was upsetting, but it was somehow...weird...

I said it was the best album that I have heard this year you asshole. I didn't say it was the best record of the year because, you're right, I haven't heard every album released this year. If you're going to try and make me look like an idiot, at least do it right.

Jake ain't lying. This is definitely a hard record to top for best of the year. I wouldn't change anything about it either. Just brilliant.

Wait for Mad Sin's new one on July 1. They've got experience - I'm willing to bet it'll be amazing.

A rave from Wallace. Has hell frozen over? It really is a great album though. It's so dangerous for somene to rave that much because it puts unreal expectations and starts a snarlfest on here, but i can honestly say that Max's music connects in a way that so much other stuff doesn't. It may just live up. It's not very often i hear a record that just feels like the band tried so hard. Also i've missed indie rock and this album is the first record that's come along in a long time that really fits that category so well.
i can't agree with you more wallace, i'm so fucking excited for this album, this is the one im looking forward to the most this year.

My Top 5 is already getting full.. from albums I've heard this year the top 5 would probably be (in no particular order)
Hot Rod Circuit - Reality's Coming Through
Swarm of the Lotus - When White Becomes Black
Unearth - The Oncoming Storm
Say Anything - Is A Real Boy
Another cd that doesnt come to mind...

I think this is the reason why some, myself included, are leery of this review. You go out of your way to badmouth another band, which just isn't cool. Also, due to the fact that they're on this website's tour doesn't do much to help the credibility of Mr. Wallace's review.
Granted, the tour is (supposed to) pimp the bands that the editors like, but this is ridiculous. There's enough hate and dischord in the music world already, why fan the flames by saying "Don't buy album A, buy album B because I say so."
Cripes.

I'm just trying to make sure our readers are happy with how their money is spent, it's the least I can do.

As for what you said about the tour. I hated the Say Anything demos I'd heard and when I put them on the tour I wasn't sure I'd made the right choice, it wasn't until I heard this album that I was sold on them and now I couldn't be happier that I get to see them 3 times next week. If I actually didn't like one of the bands on the tour, I wouldn't pretend I did just for the sake of it doing well and I hope no one else here would either. I honestly enjoy the music all 4 bands make and ...Is A Real Boy actually is the best album I've heard all year.

i love his voice, but something has always thrown me off. when he does the spoken dialogue stuff it reminded me of someone, and it took me months to put my finger on it.
today it hit me.

just sayin.
I think it's funny that some people on this site who used to be all over Taking Back Sunday's balls aren't anymore, just because they commented on the gossip on this site. And then one person here called Adam a cokehead and an alcoholic basically. I'm sure there are records coming out much worse than Taking Back Sunday that people could save their money on

Actually, I think those people just heard the new album. TBS never commented on the gossip on this site - last I heard they were actually fans of AP.net, and Fred is here all the time and is friends with Jared ...

I'm not a huge fan of the vocals (or a lot of the lyrics), but the only Say Anything song I've heard (alive with the glory of love) had some of the best new music I've heard. Lately I'll hear new bands and hate them, but I think I'll be buying this record.

he's a good lyricist (i recently discovered and fell in love with A Walk Through Hell, i know it's earlier stuff), but yeah, his voice doesn't work for me all the time
i'll still probably buy it, i usually dig theme albums like this one is supposed to be...

it's the cover of his album, it's supposed to be pinoccio's nose. you know how he believes he's a real boy and the album is called "say anything is a real boy."

I must be one of the few people that don't like them. They just sound like all the other bands jumping on the "Indie" band wagon. ie: Jet, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse... Ect. Maybe it's just me but I just can't seem to enjoy or find anything good to say about that kind of music.

first of all they sound nothing like modest mouse or the yeah yeah yeahs, and I don't know how modest mouse jumped on the "indie" band wagon considering they have been around for years, a long time before this "band wagon" was created. I also don't really hear that much of a link between jet and say anything? You need a new pair of ears

well he didn't say he heard every record this year. he just said that out of all the records he have heard this year, he thinks this is the best.
