If someone were to ask me the one film that should never, ever be remade Seven Samurai would have been my immediate answer. Who could possibily have thought this was a good idea. I'm glad Kurosawa is dead and oblivious to this affront. Shinobu Hashimoto should be fucking ashamed of himself to be part of this film.

You obviously do not know the difference between a film being "based off" a film and being a remake of a film. If you call those films remakes, then Seven Samurai itself is a remake. The tale of seven warriors protecting a village has been around for thousands of years. I mean, Aeschylus wrote a play called "Seven Against Thebes" which Seven Samurai draws from heavily.

Understood, but saying Mag Seven isn't a remake is like saying that "The Ring" isn't a remake of "Ringu".

They took the script of Seven Samurai and re-wrote it into something that is more reckognizable for Americans...
