Hope this thread hasn't been made before...

This isn't an e-peen contest, I'm just honestly curious how many gigs of legit, purchased music you have.

Don't know the exact number but probably close to equal to the amount of "stolen" music.

Not sure. I can throw up a picture of my CD shelf though if it helps (although there was a thread about that somewhere).

edit: I have however many gigs this is...
Damn, I didn't realize this thread was from this long ago. Anyway, figured I'd take some pictures of my cd shelf while I was taking pictures of the rest of my apartment, so here goes:

I'd say less than half of my 60 gigs of music is stolen.

This. I've bought about 5 albums from itunes just because I had gift cards...I'll probably still buy the physical albums at some point.

Seriously... I tried iTunes once, fail. My computer was about to crash so I was trying to transfer all my files to an external drive. My purchased iTunes music was worthless, I couldn't touch the files.

Its like, why PUNISH people who are buying the goddamned music??

The only song I ever brought digitally was Baby Girl, I'm a Blur when it first went up.

Seriously. I just brought all of my CDs to my apartment a couple weeks ago (see above) because I love looking through the booklets while I'm listening to an album. You can't get that with mp3s (or even if you can, looking through it on a computer screen just isn't the same).

I need to sell some of mine...not that I think I have too many, but just because there's some stuff (read:crap) on that shelf that I haven't listened to in years.

i have no way of knowing because i've sold so many of my cds in the past few years because i wanted to switch over to vinyl. i can't remember what i've ripped and what i've downloaded. at one point, i'd say i had a 75% legal music.

I doubt you'd want most of it; it's a lot of nu-metal from middle school that I'll probably either have to sell on ebay or just give to a thrift store. But once I go through them and figure out what else I want to part with I'll let you know.

and congrats!

edit: oh snap, prestige!

07/25/08, 05:16 PM
At this point, about 22 gigs of 30 is purchased, ripped and on my laptop. The other is from bands who are broken up/too rich to notice

Example- The MovieLife and 50 Cent.

EchoPark
07/25/08, 06:14 PM
I've purchased 2 tracks on iTunes. The b-sides of the new Alkaline Trio release In My Stomach and Burned Is The House

Of the close to 150gb of music on my external, around 60gb is from cds and the rest is well...you know.

Me too I do this, I hate buying a bad album, I download the Cd and if it's good i'll go buy it. I bought I think two cd's without listening to it and they're probably the 2 worsts albums I have, Conviction by Aiden and Welcome The Night by The Ataris.

I only buy CDs without listening to them if they're from bands that I absolutely love already.

I tallied it up...according to RYM, I own

343 CDs
95 Vinyl albums (+ a whole slew of 7"s)
8 Digital albums (damn itunes gift cards...I'll be buying those in physical form at some point)
1 Cassette album
3 Music DVDs

Ditto. It feels like it's missing something without the box, cd and artwork.

I think my collection is around 40 purchased, 60 dl'd. (%)

You are awesome. I need to meet more people like you. I don't even know someone who has purchased more than 10 cds (not including my father.)

And iTunes cards suck. I always save them to re-gift since they are essentially worthless.

If I EVER digitally download anything, it will be illegally. Just so I can actually move the fucking files however, and wherever I want. Seriously, why does iTunes encrypt their files? Is it necessary to punish the people paying for the music?

All my music- 57 CDs, including legal downloads. I only really got into music/buying CDs about 1 1/2 years ago.

edit: I have more like 70 CDs since some are deleted off my computer like the religious stuff I used to listen to, and Paramore/FOB type stuff.
