The Dark Side No One Cares to See

I wrote this poem using some of my favorite lines from different songs. They're pretty easy to spot, but I'll underline them anyways.

This could be Love, he said
and the smile on his face
lit up the fire in his eyes
I watched him burning me inside
he watched me as I floundered
and this could be Love, he said.

Love is a sacrifice
he said and drew a plan
slit my throat, collect my blood,
wash your hands clean in the river
give yourself away to me
and Love is a sacrifice.

Love is your name, he said
scream it out loud again
I will split it from your lips
and I will stop it in your lungs
I could stop you from breathing
and Love is your name, he said.

Love will make you crazy
he said and stroked my hair
he handed me a pillow
placed it over my pale face
suffocated my last words
my last three words - I Love You.
Yes, love will make you crazy.
That's the dark side no one cares to see.

Kind of cool to see that. I like the allusion to Brand New in the title, too.

A fun game to play is to get WinAmp (or a similar program) and scroll up or down without looking at the screen and stopping once in a while. Take whatever song title you stop on and write it down, making a 10-or-so line poem. It's fun to see what you can get.
