One day my friend invites me to a show at our local skatepark, nothing big. I have seen all the bands who are going to play atleast twice, but I have nothing better to do. But he tells me there will be another band there, one that I have never heard of, called The Rocket Summer. I thought nothing of it, but as the night progressed more and I heard more and more about this band. All the other bands have played, so it was judgement time. The Rocket Summer blew me away. They had a poppy sound, so some guys walked out quick saying 'This is gay.' But they don't appreciate real music. The Rocket Summer is beautiful, and I recommend them to anyone with a taste in good music. There live show was awesome, and the cd is equally incredible. It also came with a dvd that uncovered a lot of things I was unaware of. The Rocker Summer is just one brillant mind, Bryce Avary, and he was big tyme shit. He had toured in Japan for Christ's sakes. Why the hell was he at a local skatepark? In all places Memphis? It was an enormous deal for me. Memphis gets few good shows each year. And I thank Bryce Avary for making a stop at a local show and brightening my life. Check him out if he comes within 100 miles of where you live, and buy the cd..... now.
