Northstar (http://www.northstarrock.com)'s video for For Members Only has been added to MTV Canada. But still, why isn't this band bigger with their latest release, Pollyanna?

I think they didn't explode because pollyanna was one of the biggest disappointments of this year, The cd was nothing compared to "Is this thing loaded?"

pollyanna was an excellent cd. many great songs. there could have been more, but it was still awesome. sure, it wasn't is thing loaded?, but it was on par.

Anyways, regardless of whether you found Pollyanna to be a "disappointment" or not (which I firmly believe it was the latter), it is still a better record than most bands mentioned on this site could even hope to create.

You're honestly the first person I've seen saying that. Nothing against that, I'm just saying.


But I do prefer Pollyanna to Is This Thing Loaded?, and Pollyanna, in my opinion, will probably end up as the most underrated of the year.

the recording quality on is this thing loaded sucked but it was still a great cd, though the choppy quality might have turned some off, just a thought.

Yeah I thought they would be bigger too they arent all that original kinda like a mix between Brand New and NFG but thats whats popular now so I thought this record would be big. Also the first 3 or 4 songs are really good and then its like whats this shit anyone else feel this way?

I love Northstar, but if they want to get a bigger fanbase they need to get out there and tour some more for this new album. If they got on warped tour it prolly could have helped them a lot.

Northstar's lyrics are probably right now the best in the business if not 2nd to geoff from thursday, the guitar parts are awesome strumming nothing too easy and well placed and written, the structures are amazing, the meanings are like 5 per each song, i feel sorry if you think northstar sucks, and i can't wait til you post about how awesome some underground band is because they didnt have a chorus in their song, and believe me i dont like stuff thats too poppy, northstar is amazing.

This album didn't blow up because everyone who DLed the album, didn't go out and buiy it. I heard some ridiculous figure like that the album was DLed 12,000 times... Thats alot of missing copies

That's exactly what I was thinking.. these people are fools to say Northstar blows.

Both of Northstar's albums are incredible, the music and lyrics. They're amazing live as well and are/have been touring in promotion of Pollyanna. And from what I hear they tried to get on Warped but are only doing some "regional" Warped dates. They also have a full-page article in the current issue of Alternative Press.

They're completely underrated. And you all can say for whatever reason you want, not enough touring, not enough promotion.. so on, but maybe it's also because people have gotten lazy. Everyone wants to sit back and be spoon fed their "new favorite band" by some TV commercial.

The only reason I like Is This Thing Loaded over Pollyanna is because the songs could have been done much better. To My Better Angel on the Beer: The Movie soundtrack totally blows the album version away. It's like they recorded the album version right after they woke up, it's all sleepy.

While I agree with Northstar writing excellent lyrics, as does Geoff from Thursday, I don't think Dustin from Thrice gets nowhere near enough credit for his words. I can't think of any frontman that is as eloquent as him. I know this isnt related to the post, but when I saw what you said I felt like sharing.

as of today, pollyanna is the best record ive heard all year. northstar is one of the best bands around. not only do they write fucking amazing songs, they kick your ass live. i love this band.

ETID has the best lyrics in my opinion. Logic Of Crocodiles is amazing. Thrice and Thursday also have great lyrics.
