These guys are one of the best Australian bands I've heard in awhile. It is good that they chose to steer clear of the screamo garbage that they initially had started playing and opted for a more melodic rock sound for this album.

both are great aussie bands. but i think your right. getaway plan are better now.
i havnt seen geatway plan live but i did have the pleasure of seeing kisschasy just after they released their darkside/stay awake ep thingy.

My observations on Australian music:

As the population of this country is only 20 million people, and the majority of the population live in about 15% of its landmass, bands who start playing and touring can cover things pretty quickly. If they have talent,image and good backing,they almost ALWAYS will look to go overseas,primarily to the USA. Some succede,most do not. Sure,there are some pretty awesome bands in Australia. Nothing ground breaking or earth shattering. Just another band,slogging it out,trying to make a name for themselves.

The Getaway Plan play a fairly stock standard type of melodic rock. They enjoy some pretty good commerical coverage here and it is rumored they are going to head off to the USA to try to crack the market there(where they recorded their recent full length album). I wish them the best in their endeavors.

I'm a fan! The Getaway Plan bring nothing all that new but they're a good listen. In terms of whose better between them and Kisschasy, I think The Getaway Plan is better to be honest. They got better chops especially. The only Kisschasy material I like is their EP before their 2 full lengths and a small handful of their newer stuff.

Americans are relatively clueless about Australia and its people, Australians probably even more so. Funny you should mention that because whenever we would make the 3 hour trek to Chicago to skate for the weekends, the bums there had some of the best lines to get money off you and if you didn't have any, they would politely thank you and be on their way.

Yeah I'm fond of the City of Angels as well. Problem is,is that too many young Australians visit the US and they only go to LA or NYC and don't really get to experience the true aspects of the country. They don't visit anywhere else,they just stick to the tourist areas. There is a lot more to see and do and has more to offer than just the 2 big cities.
