View Full Version : Here's My Warped Rundown

Okay, here it is: my rundown on the Warped Tour along with all the shit you don't care about, and all my bad spelling and grammar mixed in.

As we arrived, we were lucky enough to be greeted by Senses Fail playing, however; I walked by and noticed people leaving to head over to the SmartPunk stage. Why? Because Yesterdays Rising was causing a stir. The band dominated and were clearly winning fans over left and right. I later heard, while getting some water, a bunch of people talking about how Yesterdays Rising had blown them away and were the best surprise band of the entire day.

I found out the lead singer of Letter Kills came down with some sickness and they had to cancel their set. I was pissed (actually, I told my friend's I wanted to leave ... but they didn't listen), so I had to settle for buying a tshirt and acting sad and depressed all day. Caught The Snake The Cross The Crown, who were good enough to convince two of my friends to go pick up their EP after their set. New Found Glory put on a high energy set, as they are known to do. It was good seeing them again as it had been a few years since the last time I had been to one of their shows. The Matches absolutely went insane and put on the best show I had ever seen from them (and that's saying alot). Bad Religion was spot on, was happy to see them again as well. Flogging Molly was impressive. NoFX did their thing, made me laugh. Days Like These by far, in my opinion, stole the show. I was blown away by their live show, and I don't think a single person who walked past while they were playing didn't stop to watch them finish their set. Jaws dropped. The notes the lead singer was hitting (and holding for loooooong times) was INSANE combined with the double bass finale where the drummer decided to start showing off and was flipping his sticks as he finished out the song, I was absolutely 100% impressed. Underoath was good, I never knew their drummer sang. Don't Look Down was my second favorite act of the day and they lambasted all the onlookers with loads of new songs. This new album has so much potential, I love it. I watched Story of the Year for a few songs before realizing the Bled was playing. Yellowcard was, well Yellowcard - they went through the perfect motions to rise the crowd to their full glory. I think some members were having a bad day. My Chemical Romance was solid, Thursday was beautiful. Luckily Adam has enough energy for Taking Back Sunday, because he clearly was the only one moving. I'd watch the band again just for him and the insanity that ensues - their set raised my feeling on some of the new songs a tad as well, the production clearly is where I have an issue with some songs.

I think you could basically stay between the Punkrocks.net and Smartpunk stages all day as they, in my opinion, had some of the best bands. Other notables: Emmanuel, A Small Victory, Emery, and The Early November. I was constantly running from stage, to stage, to stage, and I still didn't get to see every band I wanted (sorry for those I missed, and those I was unable to personally thank for putting on such a great show). It was all and all a great time (minus a certain annoying girl). I bought a grip of merch, picked up some new CDs, and was handed the prize of the day: the new Don't Look Down CD; mastered, mixed, and finished (review coming soon). O yah, and apparently the Sign My Band contest is going really well, so don't forget to bring your CDs/Demos and drop those off at the TakeOver Records/Yellowcard tent.

Well, I am still exhausted, sunburned, and beat, so I am going to take a little nap before I begin updating the website and all that jazz.

haha tate the reason you didn't see letter kills was cause they weren't there! They couldn't have been cause they played a free show in NYC tonight (monday the 12th of June) and that I almost went to...I was RSVPed to go (I was on the "in" list to see em) but I'm a fucking minor (18 and over show) so I couldn't make it...so we both missed em...let's be emo and cry now.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Well, they said he was sick. And I would be VERY pissed if they thought a free show in NYC was more important than winning some fans at the Warped Tour. O well, I talked to their merch lady, and she said he had tonselitis[sic].

SHE LIES! but again, I didn't go to the show but I doubt them and Island records would lie about them playing a free concert...oh well. I will see em when warped swings this way.

i was really looking forward to seeing letter kills as well... and they were still in portland - 4 of them signed autographs at the cingular bus in the afternoon... they must be pretty jetlagged to play that NYC show tonight. i heard the same tonsilitis story from a couple other people, too... oh well -
SOTY definitely had enough energy to go around... them and TEN were my favorite bands there (and coheed and TBS and thursday...)

I'd think that their commitment to a headlining show is more important than a Warped date. If you go to a Letter Kills show and find out they bailed on it, even if it was free, you'd be pretty pissed off. If you go to Warped and find out that one out of several dozen bands bailed on the stop, you're probably not gonna be too mad about it.

Okay, so warped this year was the BEST CONCERT EVER. I hope you are all pumped and excited for what you're going to be seeing will knock you off your feet. I went to the Portland, OR warped with a few friends.

Matches sure put on a kick ass show. They came on with demolished punk'd out hair and as much energy that's in a bottle of red bull. I was given the chance of a lifetime and went on stage behind YC. Sean was quite the tumbler and threw us all out of our seats with a back flip.

I could tell that the fans had a difficult time with the stages being split into two sections. So, while half of the crowd was raging with excitement and body surfing, the other half was waiting for some action in front of them, whom better for the most AMAZING EXCITEMENT but YC. So, they took it upon themselves, went to the other stage and the crowds went NUTS!

BEST RUSH EVER! Can't wait until next year!

i agree with staying between the Punkrock.net stage and Smartpunk stage... at the gorge show (washington) i realized i kept gravataiting to those stages... except of course when a few key main stage acts played (yellowcard/story of the year/the early november/bad religion...ect) and when Dont Look Down played.... for my first warped tour i'd say it was pretty rad. :D

I have to say this was one of my favorite warped tour's since i started attending in 1999. I also gotta say Taking Back Sunday had amazing energy, and the matches were totally awesome. Their singer, shawn harris, also is an awesome guy and gave me some free merch and got to hang out with them at their tent for a bit. Adam from TBS stopped by and got his autograph - i never knew he was so shy.. or maybe it just seemed that way to me. Seems alot more confident on stage.

I guess you've never been to Warped Tour. Anyways, there is a huge white board that tells you when and where all the bands are playing. Also at a band's tent you can find out what time they play.

yellowcard might have been the dissappointment of my warped...they played 6 songs, all off of ocean ave., it was by far the worst ive ever seen them live.
