Elliot Smith's final album, From A Basement On The Hill, will be released on October 19th. You can read the article here (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1489420/20040714/smith_elliott.jhtml?headlines=true) .

great news (considering the the underlying source), but i wish it had been release(d) by Saddle Creek, as i heard that was his wish for the record.

I didn't get into him until he was killed (by himself or girlfriend) but I've been waiting for this ever since then. October is to far away.

yeah same here. i can't wait for this to come out, but i hate the fact that i didn't know anything about him until after he died. i can't reccommend either/or enough though, everyone who frequents this site should have that album.

honestly nobody would care about this album if he was still alive. which is sad.

Just because people never heard of him before, like me.

elliott smith was an amazingly talented artist, and calling him the "king of emo" is an insult. it's a shame the album won't be released on saddle creek, but i'm sure it will still be breathtaking. rest in peace.

How about fuck you. I loved elliot smith since march 2003, before i even knew he was part of the scene.
