hopefully it doesn't resort to people thinking they can resort back to their old transportation habits.
Here in San Diego it was up to $4.75 a few weeks ago but now we're around $4.25

sadly, it will, then prices will go back up and they'll complain again.

I've been fortunate enough to not have to pay $4 or more where I live yet.
It's been steadily dropping a few cents over the past couple days. It's currently $3.75. :woot:
I haven't really changed my driving habits much during all of this, but its difficult to do so when I have a 25 mile commute to work.

It's been $3.99 steadily forever and hasn't dropped a cent over here. Military town.

$3.62 by my house. That may be the lowest I've seen it in 3-4 months.

I remember like 6-7 years ago it was as low as $0.73/gal in the summer. I'm not sure how long ago im guessing 6-7 years but maybe a few more?
Summer is about over. Gas always goes up in summer due to higher demand from high schoolers and college kids who ordinarily don't drive, Vacationing, etc. No big mystery.

^ that combined with the now-realized effects of oil dropping by $20-25 a barrel in the last couple weeks.
3.59 where I live, I hope the downward price trend continues.

Worded weirdly. I mean school is about to start up in 1-2 weeks so very few people are going to be vacationing and are likely to be preparing for school and staying in a single geographic area without large trips. (I move back into school the 14th... and I know others start earlier)

In the UK it's about £1.16 ($2.33) for unleaded and £1.30 ($2.60) for diseal - and thats per LITRE!!!!!!
One gallon = about 3 and half litres.
So in the UK petrol is at about - £4.06 a gallon or $8.12 (in US dollars).
You have it good.

Back in January of 2007, I remember getting gas on tour for like 1.80 per gallon. That was like a year and a half ago? I don't get too excited when gas sky-rockets, then drops 25-50 cents and stays there for the fall. Next summer we'll see 4.75 a gallon being the low and all of you people will be glad that's back.
$3.59 or so here, will probably fill up tomorrow so hopefully it stays there.

I agree. It's only a matter of time before it hits $4.00 again. To say $3.72 isn't expensive for gas is a lie.

The fact of the matter is, it is extremely difficult for US citizens to not be dependent on oil. This country is gigantic and public transportation sucks for the most part unless you're in a large city. There are a significant number of individuals who live outside of those areas that still have to depend on their own personal vehicles.

I would not get cozy with the prospect of gas prices falling a lot. Demand needs will soon enough outpace supply and price will once again skyrocket. It is simple economics.
America is addicted to oil. Not middle eastern oil...but oil in general. Drilling off-coast is a short-term solution that will inevitably fall victim to the same types of problems that are occurring now. The only way to truly lower gas prices a good deal and ween us off oil is to put a massive amount of money into R&D for alternative fuels and to find a cost effective way to make electric, hydrogen, or biofuel cars. But no one is willing to do it. Or the ones who are are silenced.
