TSOAF - Lover, the Lord Has Left Us (what a jarbled, thrown together piece of shit overrated album this was)
Emery - I'm Only A Man (while not a huge Emery fan, I still somewhat liked their first two albums, and didn't see this bomb coming at all)
Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam (they continue to move farther and farther away from their original sound into just another trippy electronic band)
Devendra Banhart - Smokey Rolls Down... (has its moments, but this is the first Banhart CD that has more bad songs than good ones)

My hopes were way up for this record, considering how much I loved the rest of their catalog. And to this day I can't get into the record. I just feel nothing when I listen to it.
Very glad that Paper Walls is a much more solid release.

Nas' past 3 albums have been major disappointments. Especially with the over-hype of his last album. It's an okay album, but Nas is one of the Top 5 greatest MC's, everything he drops should be unique and definitely hot. But it seems that his production team/lyrical content have gone more to the mainstream he was dissing in "Hip Hop is Dead". If Jay-Z can drop a great album every couple of years, Nas should drop one every week.

mae's singularity and aar's move along. they weren't terrible, but they weren't what i was expecting. singularity while interesting was just a liiittle too far from the older stuff for me, and move along just seemed like such a forced attempt to make an album that would secure mainstream success. i really do love a lot of songs off both albums though, so disappointments just to an extent.

i personally found it very well crafted, i mean they spent a lot of time on that music i can tell. so many instruments all utilized to the fullest and performed with skill, every song sounded totally different and was well-rounded and multi-faceted, a roller coaster of moods and dynamics... just everything i look for in an album was on TNTS. i could tell it was a favorite from my first listen and went back and listened like 5 more times immediately afterward.

seriously dude download their horror show EP immediately and then get onto their album anhedonia, you will not be disappointed. they have that synthy/dancey edge to them but its not forced in your face as much as it is with the other bands trying to be unique, and they do it better than anyone else. theres also a lotttt of atmosphere on the full-length. every single member of that band is insanely talented and innovative for the genre, like for serious corey is one of the best singers, tim's one of the better drummers, jared is like the most amazing pop-punk bassist, max's common use of delay in his guitar riffs is enthralling and a trademark of the band...

Cute Is What We Aim For. Go!
hahahahahahahahahahha
corey's lyrics suck, they are the only unimpressive component of that band, and they still own shaant's. vocals-wise shant is very boring and typical, corey is more expressive than any band ive heard in the scene, and ive heard a lot. he gets pining emotional tones, cool/smooth tones, raspy/sassy tones, a great ambience in his falsetto "oohs" and likes to slide his notes which is something i myself have taken influence from. not to mention, though corey's voice is thin, it is mature on anhedonia and hasnt at all been whiney.
cute is what we aim for has no character whatsoever, unless you count their niche as a blend of almost all the bad sides to the genre they're in, and no good sides. the graduate has atmosphere, subtle synth usage, plenty of reverb as an effect, even more delay, and a singer who doesnt try to mask his midwest accent/word pronunciation in the southern california mold.
the musicianship is better in every category, period. ESPECIALLY in bass and vocals.
last but not least the graduate made no attempt to become a part of the scene they're ostracized in and are making efforts to escape it as well as expand their creativity in future music endeavors. i know this becusae i talk to corey and jared on AIM on occasion. the fact CIWWAF has made no such progression for their sophomore album proves the opposite for them.
theres my rant.

That is a neat trick. TREOS did that too and it made for a pretty cool set (yup, I listen to TREOS, shoot me, elitists).

I don't think it's as good as IARB but it's got quite a few excellent pop rock songs. I think Shiksa is possibly the best "fun" song Max has ever written.

I like some the music to Lights And Sounds, I'd actually love to get my hands on instrumental versions of a couple songs.
The overall album felt dead or flat for me, it didn't feel to me like Ryan was putting any heart or emotion into his words and vocals, and that killed the few songs I somewhat liked. The rest of the album was just garbage to me, somewhat overblown and rushed.
I still go back to it somewhat regularly to give it another try because I do love the band, but I have the same feelings every time.
Paper Walls is my favorite of my records, honestly.

I'm assuming that you never sat down and listened to any of Lil Wayne's songs that aren't thrown all over MTV and the radio. Tha Carter III doesn't sound anything like any of his other albums or mixtapes. And besides that wretched "Lollipop" song, and maybe a few others, the songs aren't about having sex; along with most of his from other albums. Listen to his lyrics, and metaphors on any of his other albums, I doubt you would have the "talent" to write anything like it.
But I'm not gonna sit here and argue about Lil Wayne, that's a joke. so I'm done. You have your opinion, I have mine.

How about Radiohead Kid A? Let me down. While it's a grower, I still prefer Ok Computer.
If Jay-Z can drop a great album every couple of years, Nas should drop one every week.
nas is past his prime. he doesnt know how to pick beats, illmatic is perfect cause large professor i think produced it all, but yeah, he cant pick beats and his new shit just sounds dumb. illmatic, lost tapes, stillmatic and it was written oh and gods son r good as fuck. streets disciple, hhid, untitled, i am and nastradamus all garbage for the most part.

I am severely disappointed by every album that has come out since everyone started having heath ledger joker avatars.
This guy is funny! But I tottally agree. I was going to say, basically, the same thing.

haha yes
your a fucking idiot. learn about shit before you speak on it.

How about Radiohead Kid A? Let me down. While it's a grower, I still prefer Ok Computer.
That bums me out that you couldn't get into Kid A. My favorite album of all time.

White Stripes-Icky Thump
I think Get Behind Me Satan was more disappointing. I somewhat enjoyed Icky Thump.

Eh, Icky Thump was the best track, and when the best track on a White Stripes CD is the single, you've got a problem.

I can't believe people said Sky Blue Sky was a let down.

I'd understand A Ghost Is Born being in this thread but Sky Blue Sky was only a mild disappointment.
Sky Blue Sky.
Sky Blue Sky is excellent one of their best so far, but they wont ever top Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
Mwahaha
Also, OK Computer is boring. Well, most of it anyway. No Suprises and Let Down destroy.

in rainbows > kid a > the bends > amnesiac > ok > the bends > pablo honey
These posts are a month apart. Funny how Ben is always called out when his opinion changes.
1 month and 9 days.* And at the time of those two posts the only album that I thoroughly enjoyed was In Rainbows. Over the 6 months after that, all the albums, not including OK, grew on me quite a bit. Also, I don't know how I winded u with two The Bends'.
First Ben says S,BS is excellent, one of Wilco's best, and then he lists it as his biggest album disappointment. This is a much more drastic change of mind.

He's not calling the album terrible, simply a huge disappointment. In Rainbows is a good album but had it been released right after Kid A, I'd have been severely let down. See the distinction? Yet when Ben's current opinion contradicts a past one, everyone is so quick to jump all over it. I could do the same for countless regulars here including myself.
