View Full Version : Music stage you regret the most?
Chris Reynolds

C'mon, we all had that stage where we listened to "the best band ever" and three years later you won't even tell people you used to listen to them.
For me, it has to be the Chiodos/FBTMOF/Senses Fail stage I went through a few years back, if only for a few months.

Yup. They've gotten amazingly worse with every album. I have an autographed poster by them in my room, I shoved it in a corner, and I'm not sure who I should give it too. All my friends grew out of that stage like I did.

I hate that I used to have a really limited music taste when I was younger. I used to only listen to like Hanson, The Clash, Less Than Jake, and Death Cab For Cutie up until I was 12 or 13. I'm not embarrassed about it, I just wish I started learning more about music and culture when I was younger and could have had the time to experience more.. shows, books, learning, etc.

Same. I never used the internet to find new music, just stuff my friends liked. And they liked shit, apparently.

U regret my Fall Out Boy stage the most. Closely followed by my My Chemical Romance and Linkin Park stages.

Recovered by liking worse bands? I don't see the logic in this.
rarely do i operate with any form of logic :]
i'm not saying that green day is a bad band, i guess it's the attitude that i had when i was obsessing over them that i regret.
Can I make you a pop-punk mix? I've got some stuff I'd really think you'd enjoy that might help you steer clear of a lot of pseudo absolutepop-punk.
I would enjoy said mix, miss.(see what I did there? Alliteration is key in an absolutepunk post(i did it again, teehee)

I really used to like Good Charlotte, for some reason.
I listened to a LOT of Eminem and Linkin Park too, but i don't have a problem with them now.

I don't regret any of the stages..each one has just progressed into the next and so on. I don't apologize for liking the boy bands and spice girls, or craptastic pop punk bands..they all eventually lead me to liking something new and hopefully a little bit better and it still happens that way for me.
The way I see it is that your music taste isn't any better than my music taste, period. I still love listening to random old school stuff sometimes, even if it is just for shits and giggles. I could care less if a song is by one of the worst bands deemed on this site..if I like the song, then I like it and that's that.
edit: I also find that music really brings back a lot of memories from around the time I was listening to it, so I love going back to old stuff. Example: Christina Aguilera's 'what a girl wants' puts me back in 6th grade and its actually kind of awesome to look back on it all..no matter what song or artist it was. They say scents and smells brings back memory best, but I say its sounds and music.
