at all. His books bore me so much. I don't understand what makes him so great. I can't even see it. It's not even one of those "I can tell it's good, I just don't enjoy it" kind of things.

So it goes.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though. Slaughterhouse V is on of my favorite books. I cant say I've read much of his other stuff, though.

Hated that book, but I let my friend talk me into reading Cat's Cradle now, and I can't stand that either. I hate his writing style, I just hate it. I can't even explain it, it just bores the shit out of me.

Too bad, I love his prose. I can understand, though, I feel the same way about Catcher In The Rye. I have no idea how such a self indulgent, mediocre novel has become one of the hallmarks of the 20th century.

Isn't there like some myth that people have went out and killed after reading The Catcher in the Rhy, like Mark David Chapman (guy who killed John Lennon), Lee-Harvey Oswald etc...
I liked it very existential...thinks needs a second read a few years later, if you read it when you are young. Also liked Slaughter-house V one of my fav. books but I can see how some might dislike these books, just depends what you're into, what your views are on life etc...
I also think the idea of these books becoming legends of the 20th centuary is a bit bias, as journalist/writer types who create the lists that these books top will mayaby have a more existentail outlook on life than other proffessions and therefore these books will always do well

I read Harrison Bergeron (kv short story) in school. Then I tried to read SH V but I never made it... I've been meaning to pick it back up though.

I guess he's not for everyone.

Heh. I agree. I think it took me close to a year to read it. I just didn't want to subject myself to it. At all.
I liked Fight Club, though. The movie, anyway. Don't want to read the book, for obvious reasons.

diary is probably my favorite book of his, you have to be patient with it because it doesn't really come together until the latter part of the book though.
speaking of vonnegut and palahniuk, rant reminded me of slaughterhouse v alot.

Reeding iz pour. But yeah, I really like Kurt Vonnegut. Brian Warren from Weatherbox told all the Weatherfans to read his books in preparation for the Cosmic Drama.

Define power. I know people with multiple PhDs who can't even control their pets, much less anything else.

I liked Slaughterhouse Five, but it did take me a while to get through it because some parts were terriblyyy boring for me. Haven't read anything else from him yet though.
