Every song from the collection has had it's demo leaked with the exception of one. Lots of people have put together fan interpretations made up from the demos. I downloaded one of them.

Again, with the exception of one song, all the demos are floating around and Rivers finished the album so I count it as a lost album. But if it matters at all, I'll edit the post.

I like the Thrice and NFG, I feel the same way. The best PTW album is You Come Before You, but even if it is not your favorite there is no way Versions or Tears is better. I would accept it at #2 if Opposite of December is the top choice. Discuss.

I got into them when Opposite of December came out, next was Tears From The Red, so those two CD's have been huge for me because they have been out for a while now. The reason Versions is so high is because when I bought that I was addicted immediatly, a feeling I hadn't felt from one of their albums since Opposite. I thought Tears From The Red was solid, but it took more time to get into. It probably looks bad having You Come Before You so low, but low for PTW is high, if that makes sense. I love all their albums, it just took longer for me to get into You Come Before You. Don't get me wrong it has some epic songs (Ghostchant, Crystal Lake) but I usually listen to the other three before I listen to that CD. Trust me just because it's at four does not mean I don't think it's a great CD. Hope this clears it up.

Fair enough, that's why I asked. What makes YCBY their best record for me isn't those songs you mentioned, but it is the songs where they took risks like "Apathy is a Cold Body" and "Sounds like the End of the World". Versions had some additional elements added, but the songs never really stuck for me. YCBY is a great balance of the loud and soft, familiar and new and has a great batch of songs to boot. One of my favorite records.

yeah, it is a really solid album, like I said just because it's low on my list does not mean I don't listen to it non-stop. PTW is top ten for me. They did take a lot of risks on that album, same with Versions, a lot of people don't like those risks, but I like them.

It's not a bad album, and I give them points for trying something different... but really there's a million bands out there doing that same sort of thing that do it much better. If one of the songs you like is Silver Rider, you might like their older stuff. It's typically a lot slower, more mellow and gentle, and emphasis on beautiful harmonies and spiritual lyrics. The first few albums are really lo-fi and drenched in reverb. Of course I'm gonna say go with Secret Name first since that's my favorite, but really they haven't had a lot of misses.

For me, it's basically a toss up between Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde, and Blood on the Tracks. It all depends what day you ask me which my favourite is. Right now, it's Highway 61. They're all so good and represent different sides of him as a songwriter I think.

well Being There is probably one of the top ten albums ever record, so seeing it second to last on your list, particularly behind a far lesser album like A Ghost Is Born, is a little shocking.

If I had to pick an order, which I normally wouldn't do with one of my favorite bands:
Being There, SummerTeeth, Sky Blue Sky, AM, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.....and A Ghost Is Born (which is the only album by Tweedy that I thought was of a sub quality standard).

well Being There is probably one of the top ten albums ever record, so seeing it second to last on your list, particularly behind a far lesser album like A Ghost Is Born, is a little shocking.

I really enjoy Being There too and would definitely not put it near the bottom of Wilco releases.

to be fair, I'm more taken by their pre-yankee sound, when they/he still incorporated elements of Uncle Tupelo into their sound.

all is on.

I guess I'll just do official releases...

the Starting Line
Based On a True Story > Say It Like You Mean It > With Hopes of Starting Over ep > Direction > The Make Yourself at Home ep

really? BOATS is your favorite? i have to strongly disagree with that.

the starting line: SILYMI>direction>make yourself at home>BOATS>with hopes of starting over

say anything: ...is a real boy>IDOTG>menorah/majora

motion city soundtrack: i am the movie>commit this to memory>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>even if it kills me (most disappointing album ever.)

something corporate: leaving through the window>audioboxer

Yep. I know I'm in the minority, but I love everything about that album.

There are probably six people on this planet that think In Reverie is their best work... I just so happen to be one of them. Oh well. Everyone's allowed to like whatever the fuck they want.
