From a few things I've heard, Funeral For A Friend will be on the tour with Taking Back Sunday this fall along with Fall Out Boy and Matchbook Romance. We'll keep you updated.

At the Projekt Revolution stop on Saturday in Columbus, OH Funeral for a Friend said they were touring with TBS in the fall, so half of that is definitely looking true!

oh man. this tour keeps getting better. First, TBS/Fall Out Boy. Then, Matchbook Romance, NOW funeral for a friend. how much you want to bet its going to be solely west coast...and I won't see it at all. Boo.

I talked to Judas from Matchbook Romance on Saturday, and he said he spoke to someone from TBS that day and was informed that Matchbook Romance and Fall Out Boy were sharing a slot on the TBS tour. What that means is they will be playing separate legs of the tour. He said he thought they were going to be touring with FOB too, but just heard differently that day. He also mentioned that Atreyu is supposed to be on the tour, as well.

Just when you thought the tour couldn't get any better.

I'd rather have TBS take out FOB, Matchbook and FFAF for the whole tour instead of FOB and Matchbook playing seperate legs (but if that's the way it must be, I hope FOB comes here on their leg of it).

Thank God.. I thought I was the only one who hated them. I'm from Poughkeepsie, Ny and I think they are terrible.. I hate that they represent my scene, and everytime I've seen them live they've sounded like shit. Plus the screamer sounds like shit. So there you lovers. However, I can just go to the tour late since it's still going to be so awesome. I can't wait to see Funeral For a Friend again. They were amazing at Skate and Surf, one of the stand out bands for me. This tour could only get better if like.. Midtown got put on it.

not a fan of matchbook romance. and i've never even listened to fallout boy.

i like funeral for a friend though.
and tbs.

i hope atreyu is playing the chicago date instead of fob or mbr.

Matchbook
FFAF , even though I don't like them

Alright, TBS and FOB will make for killer shows this fall. If FOB doesn't come within 5 or 6 hours of me someone will die. Their "believers never die" tour came just almost to my part of the west coast and then decided to skip Oregon and Washington, i would go to either, and went to fucking Utah twice.
Anyway, it better come here the way i want it cause i get what i want(usually)! :lol2: MR, i haven't really listened to them yet.
FFAF i saw at Skate and Surf as well as someone else who posted and they were good.
Now for me, it would be absolutely completed if Northstar were on it, i would just fucking die to see them and TBS together(like at skate and surf sort of). Literally, i could die after i saw like 5 shows.
Oh well, i'll be busy this fall with lots of good tours.

if "fucking awesome" means a band that sounds like every other boring and whiny emo band that screams a bit, then i agree with you.

tbs started and perfected this whole style of music with tell all your friends. all the other bands like hawthorne heights and matchbook romance just do a shitty job of trying to sound like tbs.

as much as i love FOB and Matchbook Romance....its gonna be like watching 3 of the same band. They've copied Taking Back Sunday in so many ways, its ridiculous.

That said, I havent' seen either FOB or Matchbook Romance, nor have I seen FFAF...so I'm excited for this tour.. Plus, Seeing TBS is good under all circumstances.

DUDE!!!! fall out boy fucking owns taking back sunday. you must not have much of an ear for music: they don't sound anything alike. FFAF's music is different from TBS's as well. they much more metal and hardcore influenced and their guitar parts are wayyy more complex than what TBS plays.

okay, so I wasn't serious when I said that it would be like listening to the exact same 3 bands...because TBS obviously triumphs over all the others. But I said that both MR and FOB copy much of what TBS does. FOB especially copies the TBS lyrical style. Have you heard "Chicago Is So Two Years Ago"? Even the title is a rip-off of a TBS song.

I didn't say anything about FFAF because they don't sound anything like TBS. All I'm saying is that both FOB and Matchbook Romance owe TBS bigtime, because without them, their songs wouldn't be half as good as they are. The good part is that both of them recognize the godliness of TBS by paying tribute to them on their album ("Chicago is so two years ago" is a tribute to "you're so last summer" and in the MR song "Lovers & Liars" They say "Tell All Your Friends") You can say this is coincidence...but I like to think decently about these bands, and if they didn't pay any tribute to the band they took so much from, I wouldn't be able to have any respect for them.

that's hilarious. you think that fall out boy who has been writing witty lyrics and song titles since they were a tiny little local band even heard of TBS back then? they all came from hardcore backgrounds... i'm sure they weren't listening to TBS because Tell All Your Friends hadn't even come out then. also, that's how pete writes. his lyrics KILL adam's any day of the week.

they owe absolutely nothing to TBS. in fact, they are a million times better than TBS. Tell All Your Friends is good, but the whole screaming and crying into a microphone thing has gone far enough. FOB hardly screams at all. And just because the song titles are similar doesn't mean that the two songs have anything to do with each other.

TBS is so far from godly its not even funny. they make decent music, but come on.

I do like FOB though.

whats funny, is TBS and MBR played the same style at the same time, TBS got bigger faster because of Brand New. MBR at the time was still recording their first EP which would have came out the same time as TBS, but epitaph was looking at them, so the held off putting it out. In an interview TBS did with this very site, eddy told everyone to watch out the getaway (which is MBR). They were 2 bands, doing the same thing, one band just got bigger a lot quicker

so before you call MBR a rip-off, know something first. k thanks, bye

oh and Brand New, TBS, MBR played a show together with Murphy's Law being the headliner, any ways after the show the 3 bands plus a couple friends (including me) went to denny's afterwords, and they all planned on touring together, but MBR couldnt do it, because of the whole epitaph thing

I don't know much about the history of FOB. And I don't think they sound like TBS, I just think they capitalized off the popularity of Tell All Your Friends. As someone said earlier, TBS perfected the clever lyrics/song titles.

MBR, on the other hand, I think owes a lot to TBS. Their EP, for the most part, blows. Greatest Fall is good, and so is 14 Balloons, but the rest of it is boring. It took Tell All Your Friends for them to realize that they could be good, they just need to copy TBS. I mean, come on, listen to "Playing For Keeps" that song IS Taking Back Sunday.

They are capitalizing on TAYF because people discovered they liked what Taking Back Sunday was doing with the clever lyrics and songtitles and oh, here's this other band taht is doing that, Fallout Boy. I mean, really, it all comes back to Brand New. But I maintain that if TAYF didn't have the following that it had, FOB wouldn't have gotten the fanbase that it got.

i didn't even pay attention to the lyrics the first time i heard fall out boy. fall out boy has only gotten popular recently (much to my disliking; but oh well that's what happens) because they toured with mest and have been on fuse.

what i was saying is that they've both had albums out for the same time. don't say that FOB is influenced by TBS or ever was. maybe kids started liking FOB after they got into TBS... but come on. bands have been doing the clever/long/emo title thing forever. look at the song titles from the first shai hulud full length: My heart bleeds the darkest blood, eating bullets of acceptance, a profound hatred of man, etc. and that cd was from 1998.

Aaron (of MBR) told me that TBS and BN opened for The Getaway in New York once upon a time.

Clearly, Taking Back Sunday doesn't feel like FOB or MBR is ripping them off or they wouldn't be taking those two bands on tour with them. If TBS doesn't feel ripped off or doesn't feel like these bands are riding on their popularity, then why should any of their fans?

Personally, I don't think any of the bands really sound alike at all, but maybe that's just me. Sure, there may be some similarities in their musical styles (it's called a genre for a reason), but I think they all have their own sound.
