If you have downloaded songs from something like WinMx or Kazaa on your comp that aren't originally from itunes can the ipod still play them?

don't know but you should buy an iRiver-ihp-120 instead i just got mine a couple weeks ago and its amazing.
Yeah, just open up the song with iTunes then transfer it to your iPod.
It can play most music formats.
yah you can. and the ipod is 10x better than iriver
yeah you can, but if you do get/have an ipod, watch out for some of the new fbi warnings on cd's because some of them will fuck your ipod up. I heard that velvet revolver was one of the first cd's to have it, and if you rip it and put it on your ipod it can cause problems.

Please tell me why you think this pretty little ipod is better than the iRiver ihp-120...
I'll take this one....
-iPod's reputation
-Cheaper
-Smaller/Less bulky
-Easier to use (my friend has one so I know)
-iPod has better accocories (iTrip etc)
-Better stock headphones on the iPod
-iTunes
-Touch Scroll/Click Wheel
-The iPod style
-Apple's customer service
-Customized playlists and On-the-go playlistsd
If you still aren't satisfied I could name off some more.

yes more please i wasn't satisfied with that
and ipod's customer service is terrible
you can change the iriver's battery when its gone to shit not the ipod's you have to send it in and pay a bunch of money
the microphone on the ipod that you have to buy seperately is garbage
the iriver when hooked up to your pc is recognized as another drive which it makes it so much easier to load and delte files...
do you want me to go on...

I lost my reciept for my iPod i purchased from Best Buy and one of the tocuh buttons on my iPod broke, I called up Apple and gave them the serial # and they sent me a new one, no questions asked. I don't know what could be better.
How much do you use that microphone on the iRiver? Honestly?
When the iPod is plugged in to a Mac or PC it is recognized immeadiatly and shows up on iTunes. Deleting songs, loading songs, creating playlists, editing names, etc is as easy as it is to with iTunes. Plus auto-sync with iTunes if you want to use that, I don't but i know those who do.
As for the battery, the glitch has been fixed on the new generation. The battery runs out after approx. 3 years. The batteries on the iPods cost $49 to repair which is a drag but it's cheaper to begin with than the iRiver.

Actually one of the main reasons i bought the iRiver was because it has the mic. I bring it to concerts and bootleg the shows i go to and have live music to listen to.
The iriver right now is the same price as the ipod in Canada i know the 4th generation is cheaper but we haven't had those shipped to us yet as i live in Canada.
Don't get me wrong i'm not saying the ipod is a piece of shit i'm just saying there are reason's i chose to buy the iriver.

No hard feelings dude, I'm a proud iPod owner and I wasn't bashing the iRiver, I just believe the iPod is a better portable digital music player.

theyre both good, i personally plan on getting an iPod now with the new cheaper price and all. really all i want is the mp3 player. i dont need voice recording and all that stuff, and the iPods touch wheel seems a bit easier to navagate and it just seems very simple, and its a bit smaller so it suits what im looking for, but id love to get my hands on an iRiver as well. they both seem really good

anyway, i have the midtown cd imported on my itunes and ipod and that has the FBI warning but nothing bad has happened.

How long do ipod's batterys last? And are they good for running? ( I use a cd player when i run, and this is important feature to me)

its perfect for running as long as your strap it on tightly..i mean its really small and portable and fits basically ANYWHERE.
The battery supossidly lasts for a year before you need to buy a new one, but on a day to day basis the ipod will run for a good 6-12 hours i'd say before you have to recharge it. (it charges 80% in an hour i think, and the rest of the 20% in 3 more hours..something like that)

close
with the new ones the battery is supposed to last 12 hours. it tooks 4 hours to charge to get a full battery but it only takes two hours to get to 80%, you can job with them but i wouldnt recommend it without some sort of case (like a soft case or something like that) and theres lots of little companies that make accesories like cases for iPods
for any questions on iPods at all go to www.ipodlounge.com
they probably have everything you need to know

I had an iPod about a year ago and it was pretty good, but then the battery died and they wanted over $80 to have it replaced, so I just said fuck it and bought an iRiver, which I am more than happy with. Not only is it more reliable, but it plays more formats and is firmware upgradable to name a few.
From my own personal experiences, iRiver > iPod.
