Sorry, I gave Say Anything's album a try and wasnt impressed at all. The lyrics were good, but nothing extraordinary. The name droppings of Bob Dylan and the like in the review were absurd. The singer cant sing at all. It hurt to listen to him, even with studio production. The music was good itself, nothing groundbreaking though. I dont understand why everyone thinks this album will change music. It sounds like all the "alt/rock" bands that claim to be "punk" or at least "punk" influenced, but with a worse singer. Thats my thoughts. If I'm not alone, let me know, and if you swear I'm wrong, I'll give it a third listen. I've tried to like it, but cant. Maybe its the build up. Maybe after time I'll like it some, but it is nowhere near groundbreaking. So many people talk about how its like a movie or something? Coheed and Cambria have been doing that, and they werent even the first to do it. No matter what it is, it should not be compared to Dylan. And it may be a lot of things, but revolutionary is not one.

I'm with you. Granted, I've only heard one song, but it was nothing special, and actually kind of annoying.
The Decemberists are the best thing on that list

I second that motion! I tried so hard to like this album...i even seen them live and found myself laughing at how annoying their live show was. Yes i was literally laughing. Sorry just my opinion...

i agree partially with the voice part, his voice isnt really that great...but for some reason i overlook it because i like the songs so much, every song just puts me in this ridiculously good mood and im not sure why. so its cool in my book. i dont believe its 'groundbreaking' or will 'change the face of music to come' or whatever the hell...but it really is a damn good album. a better word for the album would be 'creative' instead of all these epic crazy huge websters dictionary words.

both great albums
the decemberists are great too.
i like say anything. one of the few bands this site constantly hypes that i actually do enjoy. (ex: letter kills. i really don't understand what's so special about them. maybe it's because i really hate story of the years music and it sounds just like them to me.)

hello? hi. BRAND NEW!
as much as i appreciate brand new, i think this album is gonna way too overhyped for its own good
psh what am i talking about.
i think it will still be pretty good, i've thought their last 2 albums were hot sex, then why wouldn't the third?

if the third is anything as incredible as Deja is it will be ok in my books.

Can't wait for new Brand New!
And every few days I waddle on over to Say Anything's Purevolume page, hoping to find the greatness everyone speaks about.. and the songs just come of as annoying. The guy's voice isn't all that great. I really don't think this album is that great. I don't get the same feeling as when I first heard something like Deja Entendu, or even Pollyanna.

i admit that i'm not a huge fan of bemis' voice, it took some time for me to get used to (like art barrios'), i just think the music quality overall is really good, the lyrics are great, and the gang vocals get me every time
i don't think it's as "revolutionary" as it has been said to be, but i think it's quality work
but of course, this is about brand new, and i'm of course looking forward to hearing what they come out with next

Say Anything is alright, doesn't give me chills like TBS' TAYF or Deja did...Brand New's new album is gonna be really fucking great or really fucking disappointing...and they haven't disappointed me yet...

Personally I think it's cool to hear a different voice out there when so many bands are trying to sound the same. I enjoy their music and their lyrics, and I basically think they're really good.
I'm really excited about Brand New too. Hopefully it will be as good as their first two releases, I don't want to be let down like I was a little bit for TBS.

yea ill like anything they put out, because im a hypocrite like that...and yes i think it will be very fucking good. but with the way some people overhype stuff (sometimes on this site), i can just see a ton of people saying 'yea the brand new cd is ok, but it was really overhyped, its just good' or something like that. now that i think about it i have no idea why i care, because i wont stop listening to it for about a year and a half once i have it. i win.

saw say anything live and they sucked. ha ha ha show me what you got... got many laughs from all over. the cd is alot better then their live show.. but yessss they are annoying, its a cool cd but after awhile i find myself saying god damn shut up... kind of abnoxious. but the lyrics are good, and they nail the gang vocals, i also like how many of the songs switch up. i dont like the fact that tate will give the #1 album of the year...
