Well... I don't see why it wouldn't make sense. I think anyone would get rightfully upset to find out their ex is engaged - it's a natural reaction, even if you have gotten over them. They're finding someone new they want to be with forever, you might not have ... so it's gonna bug you, yes. But eventually, you'll accept it like you do with anything else. you probably related some lack of self esteem with her absence and you didn't take that out of your head for all this time.

think it over, you surely made lots of progress in your life during this time and she wasn't with you. or maybe you didn't, but the fact she wasn't with you didn't influence that. anyway, you're still alive. she didn't keep you nor kill you. it means you're independent. meditate on what did you find about your needs on women companionship and go look for it in other girls. forget the hollywood bullcrap or the internet stories where a guy can actually start over with a girl after a long time. this is very unusual and it happens under special conditions. it may sound anti romance; but believe me, trying to 'dig' those special conditions in your life, like many people do, is much more painful than admitting they're pretty impossible to happen.
