I never got to see Fairweather, I got into them like 5months before they broke up and I'm not a fan of their last cd but, I REALLY dig "If they move.... Kill them"

Weird... my friend just gave me her Fairweather shirt like an hour ago. But yea, I'm a fan of theirs.
I miss Lifetime, Mineral, At the Drive-In, The Movielife,... and a ton of other bands.

i think cove is a little better than anthony (saosin)
it just sucks that the name saosin was anthony's idea, wasn't it?
student rick was just a fun band to listen to

i'm not sure about the name situation...... but hopefully the band keeps on the same track of music
student rick just seemed girly to me.

I always thought that if one of the original members of a band leaves, then that band should be renamed. And if the main songwriter or lyricist leaves, then none of the songs written by that person should be played again. Just out of respect.

have you heard the new version of "i can tell"?
that song's friggin great

if that were the case, saves the day would have gone through three name changes by now, and i think that's a little much

I'd still be a fan of all three bands. But if Chris Conley left, and they kept the name Saves the Day, I think it'd be pretty weird since there'd be a totally different singer singing Chris' words.

i miss the original saosin line up the most. man, they will never replace anthony. and yeah i have heard cove's version of i can tell.. and i was disappointed personally.
i also miss anatomy of a ghost, student rick was a good band
CROMagnon
08/05/04, 05:38 PM
cove's voice just sounds thicker to me, and i wasn't that much of a a.g. fan, but then again it's only based on the one song
his lyrics were pretty good, but the lyrics aren't why i'm liking saosin
we'll see when the album drops

i'd have to say:
-Smashing Pumpkins
-Nirvana (So curious to know if they'd still be together right now if Kurt didn't kill himself [or get murdered...lol] or what their music would sound like)
-Fenix TX
-The OLD 'Saves the Day' ....jk

how were you dissappointed? he sounds almost exactly the same as anthony except cove's version is better. he hits the notes that anthony doesn't quite hit on the first demo.

well chris writes pretty much everything, so it would be more of a band break-up than the front man just up and leaving
besides, chris would probably take the name with him
but let's hope anything like this doesn't happen for a long long time

That's what I meant when I said, "And if the main songwriter or lyricist leaves, then none of the songs written by that person should be played again." But let's definitely hope they don't break up. I think a good example would be when Chris Carrabba left Further Seems Forever, and Jason Gleason came in and sang Carrabba's words. That always annoyed me.

plus, saosin isn't as established as saves the day. saosin has one self-released EP, saves the day has multiple abums/EP's and has gone through at least three record labels. a frontman leaving would be a totally different situation with each band.

plus the way beau sounded on one interview after anthony left...let's just say he doesn't exactly have reservations about a new singer singing anthony's songs

thats your opinion and i respect it. and i know it sounds almost the same. but i really miss anthonys half scream half sing voice when he sings " if you keep asking me.." the chorus. that to me was awesome. and i don't want saosin to give up on the full out screaming either. i was a huge fan of anthonys scream. i just think that anthony is as good as it can get for saosin. and his lyrics were awesome too!

i would have to say the band i miss the most has to be fairweather. i was into them 2 YEARS before they broke up, i had 2 chances to see them and i blew both of them. oh well, i still sport my fairweather shirt on a regular basis.
second most missed is probably american football. the sad thing about american football is they only released 12 songs their whole career. even though the 12 are nothing short of sheer greatness, i want some more.
now that i think about it, i miss all the lengendary kinsella bands....

Hey, doesn't anyone miss the Hippos? I used to love those guys. Sure their lyrics weren't great, but the music and melodies were great and catchy. And they pulled off being a skacore band to being a pop rock band very well. Oh, and I also miss Student Rick, the Movielife, Fenix-tx, Five Iron Frenzy, and Smashing Pumpkins...
