i'll be the first to say that I hope this isnt another anti-bush record. Ok, you think hes a bad president, we get it. On to music please.

I dont expect music from politicians, thus I dont expect politics from musicians.

Well, damnit. First Taking Back Sunday takes my title "Number 5 with a Bullet" and now Green Day takes "Homecoming"...haha, ok, so I'm sure the latter has been used a million times.

I'm really interested to hear that nine minute opus, have they played it live at all?

yeah but isn't music about expressing something you feel!?.....and if anyone feel so strongly about politics or/and hates bush's politics, then why the hell not sing about it!?.......if they didn't and went out and wrote another song about..whatever that wouldn't feel real....all i'm saying is let people write songs about whatever the fuck they want

I guess they should be contribing made up situations involving girls, broken hearts, death, razors, slit throats...rather than actually expressing how they really feel about relevant, important events in the world right now. man, what were we thinking...

Oh snap.

Second, to the kid who made the comment about singing about politics, you do know the origin and reason(s) behind punk music, right?

i can see where he's coming from, but let me put it in better terms. I think everyones just sick of having all these political bands and albums now, its almost like all the bands called each other up and said 'by the way its cool to write about political shit now, so lets see who can write the most lyrics about it' or something...theres just only so many ways you can bash Bush and the government and so on. its just getting played out a little bit i guess.

yeah, just a similar situation: a lot of magazines aren't accepting (and haven't been accepting for about a year now) poetry dealing with 9/11, just cuz it's overdone

really, though, it's greenday, so i couldn't care less, as long as it's good

I am damn fucking sick of all these political songs and albums. Not only do the lyrics suck complete ass most of the time (whether you agree with them or not, they are just badly written), but damn, those songs are going to sound so dated in a few years.

Heartache, relationships, girls, and life and death in general are timeless subjects. No one will want to be listening to people ripping on Bush in 10 years. Political songs are shit, no matter the side of the fence they're coming from.

Green day has always had witty lyrics that were different from everything else in the genre. Id rather not hear the exact same message that everyone else on the Rock Against Bush comps is trying to get across. All Im saying is I'd prefer to have a Green Day cd, not another anti-bush cd.
