Am I the only person here very excited about the release of Dir en Grey's seventh release, UROBOROS, coming out on November 12?

I just realized that I spelled Uroboros wrong in the title of this thread. X-)

I liked the other stuff, but really didn't like Marrow of a Bone, except for a few songs.

We'll see how this one sounds.

I can understand that. Marrow is my least favorite release of theirs too.

But judging by the single Dozing Green, and the rumors that Glass Skin (Their upcoming single) is slow, I'm thinking UROBOROS will be much better.

Good.

I think they found the best balance on Withering. Not many "nu-metal" moments, enough "shreddage," and a good amount of pop-rock (which is something they tend to do really strongly).

It just sucks that they decided to stop doing the whole Japanese Glam thing at the second their music got worse. Usually bands decide to ditch that stuff and end up making more honest music, instead of cruddy imitations of a cruddy genre... though track 2 on marrow does fucking shred.

Personally I think everything they did was nice. But I agree Withering is really good.

I'm thinking that Uroboros is going to be a nice, beter, follow-up to Marrow though.

See, I got into them with Kisou and Withering. "The Final" was one of my favorite songs for a long time. I'm more into that sorta stuff than Korn-ish head bopping radio metal. That's really why I hated a lot of Marrow of a Bone. I do like everything, even Vulgar, which has a good deal of "radio metal" on it.

I liked Vulgar a lot. Especially tracks like "Audience Killer Loop."
Although I know what you mean. Tracks like "The IIIrd Empire" were very Nu-Metal.

And I agree, The Final is amazing.

Yeah, I don't even think it was really IIIrd empire as much as Obscure.

I just heard Dozing Green for the first time, could be a good direction for them to go.

I haven't encountered a single huge Dir en grey fan who really likes Obscure. Hahah

But yeah. Dozing Green is fantastic.

I saddled up and it grew on me, but it was definitely a sign of bad things to come.

I'm just going to keep my hopes up, since I really love those men.

so, are you into other J-Rock or other Japanese culture stuff? I haven't met anyone who likes them that isn't either into "Visual Kei" (blech,) anime, or video games (usually really good ones).

Well, I'm not like Japanese Culture obsessed.
I like a lot of other Japanese music.
Some anime. I like video games, but what teen doesn't. Heh.

Ah, I'm not really into much but a lot of console RPG's and other similarly nerdy video games. I was just curious

I would like second that most people that are into those things have good taste.

I am excited about the new album as well. As long as it isn't more metal than ever. x x

Yeah, same here. I can enjoy a good RPG every now and then. And I would be lying if I said I didn't own anime.
But, I just mostly love the music.

"Vinushka" is epic.

The English versions of "Dozing Green" and "Glass Skin" suck.

Same. Really don't understand the appeal. When it comes to bands from Japan, Boris and Melt Banana shit all over these guys..
