Westcott (http://www.westcottmusic.com/) will be playing Mississippi Nights in St. Louis with Feather (ex Big Blue Monkey/Story Of The Year) and Hell In The Cannon on August 28th. The band is on pureVOLUME (http://www.purevolume.com/westcott), as well.

He can't scream for crap though, and I've seen them live a few times, mostly when they were Big Blue Monkey. They do put on a really energetic and lively show, his voice just isn't that great.

Even though Westcott is talented and could mature, they're just not that good right now. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate them, but there are so many other St. Louis bands that are better. If anyone has ever seen them live, they would understand my opinion. They pull these dance move things with their instruments that make me embarassed to be watching. Its just too cheesy. See them one time, and you'll see a fourth of the audience shaking thier heads and looking down, not because there is something fun to look at on the floor, but because they feel so bad for them.

Ninjaplease, your comment confuses me. I understand that it was a negative comment and thats about it. I can feel your anger, but is name-calling necessary. OK, the last half of my post was somewhat below the belt, but I was just being honest. I'm not saying that this band is going nowhere, I just think that it will be a while before they spit out something original, something that will make them stand out from every other local pop punk band. Oh, and if you go to most of their shows, what other bands do you ever see? There is a big scary world out there......go on, explore it.

i would guess that whoopie saw westcott a while ago, when they were a crappy pop-punk band, its just that some people don't give bands room to evolve, they just keep them in the same box that they always were in, if whhopie had seen westoctt lately, they'd know that they arent pop-punk at all, but hey, thats just whoopies opinion, we can't hate on him for that. all i ask whoopie is give westcott another chance, go see them live on aug. 28th at miss. nights, then decide, if you still hate them and find them unorigional cool, if not great!, james kane hates them too, he thinks they're unoriginal as well, amybe you guys could hang out together, and make fun of westcotts unoriginality, anyway.....westcott for life, i'll be at the next show!

whoopie, this is matt from westcott. you don't need to feel sorry for us. i'm glad we make people embarrassed at shows. these are the same people that are too embarrassed to move around for a band they like because of what their friends (or anyone else, for that matter) might think of them. love us or hate us, we still stand out. next please.

Honestly people, I'm not saying they're crap. I think that they could be great, it's just not there yet. And I have been to recent shows, with GAD and Warped Tour, so just chill. Maybe I will have to see them a few more times to see eye to eye with you, so I'll see you at the show and let you know if my opinion changes, it just might.....I don't know.

Whether you think westcott is crap or not, is ok, see Westcott plays music for the love of it, they play songs that come from the heart, someone may say the lyrics sound generic, but if you talk to Ben he will explain fully each lyric and what it means , it's not generic, hoestly whoopie, you are entitled to your opinion and thats cool, but i find that if you pick out the pionts you like and encourage the band, it goes a lot farther than picking out the points you dont like and discouraging the band, either that or your just some lame hipster who thinks his music opinion is law...but from your threads i don't think your that stupid. so its all good.

Chill the heck out, man. He doesn't like them. Do you expect everyone in the world to love your friends' band? If you do, you're going to be sorely disappointed. Even if they're the best band ever, someone's going to dislike them. You have to learn and respect that fact.

And I don't "hate" Westcott. It's just not my thing. They're all good musicians, and really good guys, I'm just not a fan of the music they make. Which is what my man Whoopie was saying as well. It's a matter of opinion. Just don't go nuts and act like we're some big time elitists for genuinely disliking something.

Who cares if you like Westcott or not, I personally do, its a matter of opinion. I'm still just excited to see the St. Louis local scene get some recognition for bands other than Story of the Year. About damn time.
