Blues vs Bluegrass

two American genres which are roots of what would become rock music. which do you prefer?

while respect the heck out of blues, and the technical aspect of it, its definatly where the aggressive aspect of rock is rooted, I'm gonna have to go with bluegrass, i love melodic stuff, and the fast uptempo speed, and the arrangements are just great.

I can appreciate the blues, I respect it and understand where it came from and all that... I just don't really listen to it that often and don't particularly care for a lot of your better known bluesmen. I don't listen to a whole lot of bluegrass either, but what I do listen to I like much better than blues.

both. and i'm annoyed there's no option for that. i equally enjoy yonder mountain string band as much as a good bluesy mayer, hendrix, bb king, clapton or robert johnson. so i dunno. i dig it all. bluegrass can be fuckin sweet.

While I appreciate bluegrass and those who play it (I've got quite a few bluegrass players in my family), I'm going to go with the blues. It just has more soul to me.

I'm a big fan of Cotton-eye Joe. I think that's bluegrass but I honestly don't care where my music comes from.
