I really wasn't trying to be a snob about it. I was just trying to ask an interesting question that would provoke an interesting responce that would entertain everyone on the site. The band reacted negatively, and I guess I can see why. The biggest problem was that the interview was done through e-mail and not live, so there was no room for tone of voice and context. I don't know any of these people personally so i'd never make the snap judgement that someone is elitest or that someone is full of shit without knowing them personally. I'm just gonna jump in and say I suppose the answer would be that the reasons you're stating aren't the real reasons the U.S. got involved (b/c they never are). From the gov'ts standpoint, there were some questionable motives. But that doesn't change the fact that the soldiers themselves did believe in and achieve something noble.

The kid asked the band if they felt they had staying power, if they could stick around for a while, being a pop-punk band in one of the current national trends. Its not easy to last long while stuck in a trend, look at the Cherry Poppin' Daddies and Voodoo Daddy, etc. All the swing bands that got real popular for a short while but no one talks of anymore, even though they continue to work and produce music.

Come on now, be realistic. Bands like NFG won't be anything 5-1o-15 years from now. Maybe 5, but not much further beyond that. Even if the sound is still around, the bands won't be. There are very few bands out today that people will talk about 20 years down the road while they do reunion tours and such. Green Day for sure, they are just amazing performers. Still they are too old for many of you. Blink-182, I'm not positive, maybe, maybe not. The new album changed their mood greatly and affects the situation. A fark joke band doesn't stick around for years, but one with talented musicians and song writing skills may. And they possess both, along with the fact of already having been together over 10 years, something most bands now can't say.

Listen to something old, try 60s, 70s, 80s. I wish I was alive then, woulda been amazing to see live performances of bands like Bad Company, the Doors, Ramones and of coure the Beatles and Dylan, etc, etc, etc...

I really wasn't trying to be a snob about it. I was just trying to ask an interesting question that would provoke an interesting responce that would entertain everyone on the site. The band reacted negatively, and I guess I can see why. The biggest problem was that the interview was done through e-mail and not live, so there was no room for tone of voice and context. I can see how the question would've come off as if I was attacking them. I really didn't mean to. But thanks for understanding, anyway.
