This is what I've been spinning:
This Day & Age - ...Always Leave The Ground
This band put me in awe when I saw them live this past week. There's just something about their music live in comparison to on disc that has an extra edge that makes you want to move. Not to downplay the album, though, because it hasn't left my player the last week.
Moments In Grace - Moonlight Survived
This band has a huge space epic atmosphere and sound that is just mindblowing. I'm also a fan of the amazing vocals which I feel any Further Seems Forever (with Jason Gleason on vocals) fan can appreciate. It also doesn't hurt that Brian McTernan was behind the scenes producing this one either. It seems anything he touches is gold.
Rise Against - Siren Song of a Counter Culture
Yep, it's definitely one of my favorite albums of the year. Intense and honest are the two words that come to mind when I think about this album. It also has a little something for everyone's taste so I can see a lot of people appreciating this effort. Give it a shot on their pureVOLUME (http://www.purevolume.com/riseagainst) page if you're hesitant.
Smashing Pumpkins - Anything and Everything By Them
It's been awhile since I've really really listened to this band. I've been spinning them a lot this week to walk down memory lane I guess. Anyway, I was reminded why this band use to be my favorite and still is one of my all-time favorites. This band can do the heavy and can do the mellow. It still bugs me that Adore didn't do as good as I thought it should have. Critics trashed on it and it wasn't that huge of a commerical success, but I still find it to be one of their best releases as well as a great on the drive home late at night kind of albums.
