alright, i know you can get movies easily off of amazon if you REALLY wanted it, but what if you wanted it brand new?
whats the deal with disney locking their movies for ten years after they're released? im not sure EXACTLY which ones or if for sure for sure it is ten tears, but i work at the disney store and i get random calls for movies and its like "=[[ they're on lock, sorry mam/sir"
sleeping beuty's coming out in a month a think and nightmare before christmas is coming out i think christmas.
damn i feel bad not knowing my news straight lol.
but yeah. whats the dealio with movies being locked? good or bad? or dont care much? i think i see a lot of option 3 =]]
My mom collects these, so it must suck for her when she misses one.

they cut supply so they can increase demand and re-release them at full price at a later date.....it's bs but hey, de beers does it with diamonds.

I used to work at FYE and my boss told me that they do it to rise demand and then instead of just releasing the dvd they put out a super mega extreme edition for a high price and make it the only option

Yeah it's fucking bullshit and people are stupid enough to pay for it. The dvd's suck, too; all the bonus features (like on my Aladdin DVD, which cost $29.95) are shit
And the special features are tainted by an added music video by some other new music kid they're trying to push onto us

I don't see what the problem is...Amazon sell any Disney DVD for brand-new and for cheaper than you'll find in most shops. And I don't know what the policy is because can't find anything about this 'lock' on the net but I'm guessing every other dvd outlet still sells them, it's not like Disney have repossesed every new copy.

I only have the Lion King special edition DVD or whatever it's called. It's the only one that I felt was worth the money minus some of the ridiculous bonus features.

You can always find these on amazon, or ebay - and just because they're used doesn't mean they're shitty. Just buy it from someone with a 99% positive rating or higher.
Also, hit up your local pre-owned dvd store....chances are you'll find 'em.

The little mermaid special edition bull shit is too expensive for me. It is my all time favorite movie, and is kinda of the reason I'm studying Marine Biology... but I don't feel like spending $30 or $40 on a disney movie.

I think I was able to get The Little Mermaid at Borders for like $22 when it came out on DVD a few years ago. :shrug:
I also just checked on Amazon and it's 19.99
'The Disney Vault' irritates me greatly

I want Beauty And The Beast on DVD. :( Same here, but we'll probably have to wait until 2010 for it to be released from the "VAULT". Like everyone said, Disney's policy on DVD releases is pure bullshit. It almost makes me not want to buy any of their shit because how stupid it is. And like someone mentioned earlier, the special features aren't even good. It's like "sweet, I can't wait to see a cool documentary on the making of the Jungle Book..oh wait, all they have are Jonas Bros. music videos..."

Both of those are coming out next year! Or at least Pinocchio is, but Snow White is due for rerelease soon.
My mom is a huge Disney freak. Unfortunately, we missed Snow White, Lion King and a number of other Disney DVD releases and we can't get them (unless on eBay) until they are rereleased. It's a smart move on Disney's part but it sucks for the fans who want them.
I am excited for Nightmare Before Christmas' special edition on August 26th, though!

Only one I have is The Jungle Book when they released it earlier this year. Its some shit cause I would like Beauty and the Beast.
Use Amazon though guys....

Little Mermaid - 14.24
Cinderella - 9.69
Jungle Book - 12.75
Snow White - 23.00
Sleeping Beauty is due out October 7th.
I'm sure the DVD's will be easy to come by once they start pushing Blu Ray in a few years also.

Maybe im just crazy but I dont need to see a cartoon made that long ago in HD cause I mean its just flat color with a little depth. Obviously the animation has gotten more sophisticated over the years but its nothing I would pay top dollar for in blu ray.

Good point. I know Tarzan employs 3D digitally rendered and painted backgrounds though.

Yeah Tarzan is in that area where its gotten more sophisticated, the same with Mulan which I havent seen since it came out haha.

Yeah you CAN use amazon, and many would probbably choose amazon, but no one cares about unwrapping the foil and knowing you're the only one to prey your hands on it haha

What's funny is one of my good friends used to work at the Disney Store and would complain about all the movies getting locked in the vault and so he'd have to buy every single movie asap so that they wouldn't get locked away
