Is it the answer to all of our energy and climate problems?

I know a lot of places where people's houses are completely sustained by their own means. In the long-term, it actually costs you less.

I was just thinking... my parents always moan about us using too much electricity and about how much our bills are these days, but:
a) There are 5 of us, me and my brother also having a girlfriend (7 bodies coming and going)
b) Prices have gone up anyway
c) Why not get some solar panels fitted or something?
First of all, it will cut the bills right down. Second of all, it's better for the environment. Next time they bring it up, I think a lecture is in order.

I want these on my house:

also a geothermal pump.
My goal is to eventually be 100% energy independent.

Who gives a shit if they don't look 'nice'? People need to swallow their pride and get the balls to stick them on their roof.

Exactly. How often do you compliment someone else's roof?

Hey you! Nice roof!

Exactly. They need to stick a load of these on the roofs of tall buildings and apartment blocks.

Anyone who doesn't advocate the saving of energy (for whatever purpose) needs to be shot anyway.

My plan is to cover my roof with solar panels and let them charge all summer (there's about 20 hours of daylight in the summer up here) so I have power in the winter.

Wow, eco-fascism. Who'da thunk it?

the problem with microgeneration is that, it's fairly hard for people of lower economic classes to afford it.
I mean, yeah, it might be cheaper over the long run to use solar power to power your house, but a lot of people can't really afford to pay tens of thousands of dollars all at once to convert over, where as its much easier to afford the monthly, but smaller, bill.

Guess we have to kill poor people to save the earth.

I wasn't just talking about ecological reasons... People who leave things running when they're not using them are pretty much retarded.

Unfortunately, this is true. Over here the government are giving grants of £2500 to people who fit solar panels. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

Haha. At least we'd never run out of compost

This isn't an option unless the treadmills have dynamos fitted.
