Seeing as she's supposed to be your friend, she would already know you, so to me, it's the only excuse she could come up with. The way I see it, if you want a sucessful romance, the feeling is mutual between the couple, it wouldn't have been if she had said yes. Move on, there will be someone worth the heartache one day.
