i'm sorry. i'm in a bad mood right now. but i just want to rant. there's this girl i know who is a very good friend of mine and i care for her and i like her to be happy. her bf of many years (on again/off again) decides to call her tonight in the middle of a birthday party, she's so happy and having fun, and says some shit to her. we have no clue what he said but then she runs off crying. like...bawling. i've never seen a girl cry that hard, and i've helped a lot of girls go through shit when they cry. i spent forever looking around campus for her and she finally calls and tells where she is so me and her best friend, this other girl, can drop off her apt keys so she can come in when she's done.

i'm just so amazingly pissed right now. at her bf. at asshole guys in general. how can guys do shit like this to their gfs? i seriously almost want to kill him right now.

i had a lot of girl friends who were in relationships like that, and all it really is is that they don't know any better.. and you can't tell them what an asshole they are because they get defensive and while you mean well, it just makes you look like the bad guy... so all you can do is just listen and hope that one day she'll figure out that she deserves a lot better than that... it's just one of those things she has to do on her own though, because no amount of telling a girl "he's so bad for you" will ever change her mind unless she decides to do it herself.
and take it from me... i've been on both sides, and it can get pretty messy

i would suggest not criticing him too much... i'm not saying he's not an asshole, which he quite clearly is, i mean to your friend. in this kind of situation a girl doesnt want to hear about how he's a complete fuck and doesnt deserve her. trust me, i've been there. i dont know why, but it just doesnt help. you just have to be there for her, and show her that guys arent all as bad as he is.
my ex, ian, used to do this to me a lot aswell, and in truth, theres nothing anyone can really do to make her feel any better. let her wallow in it for a little while, she'll feel better if she can let it out all in one go. if she changes her mind about him, and decides she's over him, then great. but that might not happen. she needs you, just be there, and try not to get too mad. even though its tough (pulling my best friend off ian was as big a mindfuck at the time as he was) .
