most people who are talking shit about them, are the same kids who were all over them last year, and the only reason they dislike them now is because they are told not to be it from Drive-Thru or whoever else. This is apparent because they all say they like these unknown bands, but it's always the same band, and whose sound was fresh in 2002

Do you even understand music enough to tap your foot to a Dillinger Escape Plan snare drum alone, or are you just trying to get ahead of everyone else in the 'scene' with that icon?

I forgot to also ask you if you can comprehend the 2/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 7/4, 9/8, 7/8, 15/16, 13/16 time signatures they use in one song and the reasoning for it. Wait, let me tell you now before you repsond with something idiotic. It comes out to 68/68 when the song is complete. Hence 'math-metal.' K? Done.

Senses Fail is awesome and they make awesome music. Buddy has an awesome voice. I would know all of this cuz i've been playing drums for 8 years i played guitar for 4 years and my dad took singing lessons from the time he was 8 till 18 and he even likes them and thinks buddy has a good voice. They can scream their asses off while also being catchy which isnt that easy to do. I'd love to see all the people that hate on them do what they do. Also i thought none of the people who post news on this site like SF so why do they promote them sometimes?

Here is my question to everyone. Give me at least two factual reasons that Senses Fail suck? I don't want any of this Buddy's voice sucks crap because that is your opinion. I think this whole "pop-punk TRL" scene is getting rediculous. How many people in your high school new who Yellowcard was before they were on MTV? I feel like people are afraid to like Senses Fail because of the crap they would get from other fans of supposed "real music" Personally, I love Senses Fail and could care less what you or Jamison or Papa Shango think. I think their EP they released on Drive Thru is one of the best EPs to date. They are amazing live and have enough energy to make Deleware seem like an intresting state.

First of all, thank you for the comps. bro. But it seriously pisses me off about Yellowcard more than anything. Honestly, I can't listen to their newest album, Ocean Avenue, anymore. I saw them at the Warped Tour at Asbury Park a year ago and it was amazing. They played all their old songs and like...Way Away. Then a year later I see them at Skate and Surf. Now ya see, Skate And Surf was AFTER they found their "calling" on TRL. Their performance was terrible. And of course by terrible, I mean by playing their ENTIRE new album and only October Nights from their earlier, but not earliest, work. I love Senses Fail. Just truly don't know why people have this agenda in proving that Senses Fail is the worst thing since the clap. Read their lyrics, understand that they are in it for the music more than a lot of bands that are out there now. Last time I checked they aren't charging 20-some bucks for a ticket ( like Yellowcard is ) Dammit...now I am pissed

I'm pumped for the CD. The melodies are crucial, and the guitars are damn catchy. I don't think the vocals are annoying...although some of the lyrics are. The e-card is key. I'm damned excited to see them with Name Taken. Yay for 2nd grade sentences.

ew who wants to go to see senses fail? they are so not cool, they cant write music and theyre so untalented.

Papa Shango was great. He used to make his opponents throw up and stuff. Same guy as The Godfather right? Wrestling used to be so much better when it had that cheese factor.

I also seriously doubt Senses Fail is the highest selling EP of all time. Out of the thousands of EP's released from all sorts of genres of music I can't imagine that Senses Fails is the highest selling one.

If they're so untalented...
1) why do people listen to them?
2) why do people attend their shows?
3) why are they #1 or #2 on Purevolume?

think before you speak.

To end all of this, how about fuck the talent of the bands any of you listen to, I'll even include myself in this one and just base shit on record sales. UnderOATH (FOR EXAMPLE ONLY [seeing as these two bands go hand in hand with you ***gots]) sold 50,000+ of their 2nd Full Length. Senses Fail sold 166,000+ (according to www.fender.com) of their EP which sounds like a shitty demo, that was recorded when they were younger than some of you posting.
Those are the facts. The rest of this non-sense you retards post about, is all based on the word we all know the meaning to: opinion. Whether it be influenced by others or not, most of what you people fight about are opinions.

And to REALLY end the bickering about any band; while you sit on a message board, fingering your pussies and bitch and moan about how a band 'sucks', just remember that they're touring the world and making money and...well... you're not. :lol2:

jared, do you like senses fail?
I enjoyed some of the instrumentals on the EP and I think the new album is a vast improvement. Yes, I think some of the lyrics, especially on the EP, are weak and aren't really my "style", but after many listens to both I can say I like a few jams (with a few exceptions of course). I don't consider myself a "fan" of the band, but I will admit there are a few songs on the new record, and the EP for that matter, that I really enjoy. They're not life altering, they haven't changed my outlook on music and I can't really relate to them, but I do enjoy listeing to them from time to time in a fun aspect.

Now, if you're asking if I like them as people and personally, then I can only say this. My problems with them were based solely on that interview where they mentioned us. After a few discussions with Buddy, I have come to believe that it was really something just taken out of context. I also have a respect for him now that a lot of you wouldn't be able to appreciate unless you actually talked to him yourself. He'll be the first to admit to you that he doesn't write the best lyrics. He'll be the first to admit that he realizes people are not going to like his band and in fact are going to hate it. He has no problem with someone telling him they don't like his band. He realizes that not everyone is going to like his band. He's real about that and doesn't care. I respect that totally. Yes, he knows they have done a lot of stupid stuff to tarnish their reputation, but you have to realize they were/are a young band. They're still growing. They realize that sometimes it's just better to keep your mouth shut. They're realizing that there are some things that are just not cool to do while on the road. However, he does realize that and they all are working on it (being a more "grown up band" that is). Buddy is sincerely one of the nicest most honest people I've ever talked to and I feel dumb for basing any of my past opinions about him or his band on hearsay or something that I would've probably done given the same oppurtunity. There's some pretty respectable stuff this band went through in regards to when they were on Geffen and them maintaining their integrity. Just stop crapping on them for what you've heard or what you think because chances are you don't even know the half of it. It's cool not to like their music as they'd totally respect that opinion, but there really is no need to come into every thread of theirs to bring them down. Let them be. Let them live their dream. There are plenty of fans that would like to come into a thread about one of their favorite bands to see positive feedback or get positive additonal info. There's enough music for everyone to go around - no need to constantly try and bring down one band.

Anyway, that's the reason I post about them if you were wondering. No, I don't hate them. No, we don't hate them. The past is the past. Lets leave it at that.

The reason I don't like Senses Fail is because they SOUND horrible. I dont give a fuck about talent (difficulty is nothing compared to sound). I hate Buddy's melodies, lyrics and even the way he presents himself. Everything about that guy is a disaster (in My opinion). I also don't like their guitar riffs, A lot of the songs sound the same to me, guitar-wise.

p.s.-wait till jared's reccomendations (i cant spell) tomorrow...it'll be mayhem. I prodict 300 replies on them and they are VERY related to the topic of convos in this thread, stay tuned for that.

I think a few lobes of my brain have shut down after reading that. I think you're forgetting to think before speaking (...or typing whatever you want). People do and make things like music, cars, food, etc. for money and self-enjoyment. Simple as that. No one says "I wrote this song so people can judge it." What you just proved is MY POINT that everyone on here just bitches about their OPINION...better seen here: "I can say when a band sucks based on my musical opinions and taste, as could I to anything else."

let me change that to "bands make music KNOWING it'll be judged". And if youve ever recorded a cd, and sent a demo to a label before (which senses fail has done)...you're asking to be judged. No band I know says "yeah..we're only recording this cd for ourselves. We dont care who hears it, we dont care if we get signed, we dont care if people enjoy our stuff, we're just doing it for ourselves". Very few bands really do it ALL for themselves, crowd reaction is almost always in mind atleast a little bit. But yeah, i do agree with you on almost everything else you said on here, sorry if it seemed like I didnt.

Not exactly. Maybe I should've explained this as blantantly as possible seeing that people ::too harsh::, such as yourself, don't grasp the over all theme (need I explain 'theme' to you, as it is used in this context aswell?) of one's comments.

My point of that criticism was to simply make note of that knowing more about music theory would provide for a more intelligent analysis of--you've guessed it!, music! :wink3: Rather than have someone, such as yourself just ramble on about how you dislike something for obvious reasons.

I feel that if you present people with an in-depth criticism with reasons and examples to go along with, then it'd be more interesting to read/listen and maybe even make someone with the opposite on mind, think twice about their views.

so, saying "this band sounds bad" isn't a valid enough statement? I need to describe in numbers and Letters what makes it sound bad? To me, someone saying "this song sounds horrible" gets a clear enough point across, maybe your different and I can respect that. When you say to someone "can you even read music" after they say they don't like a band, comes across as: "you can't say you dislike that band unless you have knowledge of music". So before you insult my intelligence, please explain yourself better bc I simply misunderstood. You should IM me sometime, I'd like to have a convo with you about music. I don't like Senses Fail. I think (Buddy I guess writes them) their lyrics leave little to interpretation as well as just being original at all. Their music, can be replicated pretty easily as there is quite a few bands, nearly all the popular scene, that sounds just like senses fail. It’s the originality that’s in question for me. Because Senses fail for damn sure didn't come up with something new.

Oh, and ah going to two shows where they played and both times they where drunk and acting like assholes; it put a damper on the persons they maybe. Though I can't assume that they bad people. But if you’re going to put on a show, put on a show, if you’re going to get drunk, get drunk.

i'm not going to lie, i have senses fail's EP and I thought it was a fun to listen to for a short duration. however, i totally agree that compared to other bands that are not nearly as popular as them, they lack the originality that i crave. plenty of other bands pack 10x the punch and talent and it's a shame they are not as successful. like people have said, SF lyrics leave a lot to be desired. as of right now they lack the depth and interpretation that makes me tick. they definately have potential to grow into something more, as bands always improve. however, i don't appreciate it when SF fans say that they're tired of people ragging on their 'favorite' band. this is the internet. this is a messege board. we can say whatever the hell we want (as long as it follows the usual guidelines). everyone has an opinion and different musical requisites so just respect each other's thoughts. not everyone has to like your favorite band.

I really don't see the point of this entire thread. For those who enjoy Senses Fail's music, what does it matter if someone else does not? And for those who don't enjoy Senses Fail's music, does it make you somehow less complete unless you knock the band at every opportunity? Some people like them, some dont. That sums up the following of every band in history. This site just inspires a fanboyesque frenzy whenever the band is mentioned. Settle down, take a valium, and post something worthwhile instead of "I hate the band, they suck, you suck for listening to them." or "I love the band, they rule, you suck for not listening to them." It's so damned trite to argue over taste. Enjoy the music you listen to and screw those who talk smack about it.

There, thats my 2 cents.

i'm not exactly a fan of senses fail either, it's just getting really old.

[let me guess how someone will respond - "bad music is getting old" - right?! SOMEONE has to say it this time, too. the thread just wouldn't be complete without making yet another immature comment.]

Done.

What do you think you're trying to prove with this post besides you're idiocy, huh? I know a lot about music, much of which comes from my jazz experience as I play the saxophone and the guitar. Not to mention that jazz is more complex than DEP (jazz guitar is something you learn throughout your whole life), and understanding theory behind it gives you one hell of a solid bass for understanding music...that, and I've always been into classical music. Yeah, I know enough about music to appreciate The Dillinger Escape Plan, now go back to being a dumbass who thinks he's smart and shut the fuck up.

Edit: And beyond all this, I don't hold it a pre-requisite for any music listener to understand music theory and why some bands do the things they do to appreciate the music. I think it's something people should know, but it's not necessary. The fact that you think you're something special amuses the hell out of me.

You know what I find most funny after reading some of your posts. You (probably) do know a lot about music theory, but it seems as if you know nothing about philosophy of music whatsoever. And personally I find philosophy of music a lot more interesting and important than music theory alone (you need to understand it to really appreciate the philosophy of music). Because it's this that, in the end, is the most important thing. And the arguments are far more interesting than normal musical discussions are...let's not even get into people like Adorno who believe ALL (read: everything made, period) of today's music is garbage. But, if you don't, start reading up on this stuff...it's so interesting, you can't imagine (maybe that's just me though). And if you go to school, make sure you take some classes on it...so cool. But then again that's only if you really are looking to take a view of music as art and not entertainment.
