No, this is not a list, but what is your favorite instrument to hear in the music you listen to? Mine is a tie between sax and flute, the two best lead instruments in my opinion. Listen to Pink Floyd - Money for some sax. Listen to Van Morrison - Moondance or James Brown - Mind Power for some excellent flute.
Discuss.
Don't say cowbell. M-(

Ummmmm is there even a question about this on AP? Without the guitar almost 100% of the music people choose to listen on here wouldn't exist. So yes I choose the guitar but I do think the piano, saxaphone, trumpet, and violin all sound nice when they are mixed with slower songs.
I like when a song has really neat percussion, that's different than what you would hear from a regular drumset.

Between Bass and Drums. It really depends on the band and genre. I love the way Ska drums and basslines sound, so they are currently my favorite. The Specials "Gangsters" and Aggrolites "Country Man Fiddle" are two songs showcasing some of my favorite bass work and drum work, respectively.
Also, when a normal rock or metal band has a drummer who is good it really is noticeable, like Mastodon's and Funeral Diner's drummers.

Same, especially instrumental songs.
And I agree with who ever said the violin.
If someone says cowbell, I'm going to lose it.

Hmm, maybe, but probably not. They were an 80's hair-metal(ish) band that had a flute player.

Not my genre at all, but the flute player sounds like the best part.

They are not that kind of band at all they are a progressive rock band who are from my local town and use the flute quite often. I am torn between guitar, drums and saxophone when it comes to the subject of favorite instrument.

Guitar, or Banjo.
I like the Sax too.
I also really like the mandolin.
Guitar duh, because it makes up 99% of my music.
Plus I play it.
Guitar sucks. Least important instrument.

I also enjoy the violin, fiddle, and acoustic guitar.

Hmm, maybe, but probably not. They were an 80's hair-metal(ish) band that had a flute player.
Umm, no.
Their biggest songs were in the 70's, by the 80's they had kinda faded from view, except for winning the first heavy metal Grammy :P
They mixed progressive rock and British folk music. The lead singer and songwriter Ian Anderson was the guy who played flute, and it was the lead instrument for a big chunk of their songs. I love their prog stuff, but I think their more folksy stuff is way better. Lots of acoustic guitar and traditional British melodies, really timeless stuff.
But definitely not a hair metal band.
For more flute, check out "Colour My World" by Chicago, probably my favorite flute solo. Also Marshall Tucker Band had flute in some of their better known songs. I'm not really sure how a southern rock band could manage to have a flute and make it work, but they did for the most part.
My favorite instruments that haven't been mentioned yet are hammered dulcimer and sitar.

It's a toss up between three: violin, piano, and guitar. All of them can stir up emotions when they're played right. Harmonica is pretty cool too.
