I have a bad habit of giving just about everything a fair chance. I suppose that counts as effort to some degree. It backfires more often than not, but I've found a few gems I wouldn't have stumbled upon otherwise.

The way I look at "trying" to get into a band, is like a band that all of your friends love you might give a couple extra chances to see if you could listen to them regularly. It's not something you have to do, but you try a few times to see why your friends are so into them.

I like all of these, hahahah.

UO - perfected a certain post-hardcore/screamo/metal sound with DTGL, and new record is also cool imo.

Paramore - Good all around instrumentals, drums are driving and solid, vocals are very good. I remember seeing their video for "Pressure" and being impressed immediately.

TEN - Always liked how they mixed soft with hard, had a certain sound that no one else did up until their final Mother and Mechanic record, which was somewhat of a letdown for me.

Steel Train - Saw them perform on Conan or Letterman, one of the two, enjoyed it a lot, knew they were signed to Drive-Thru and so I had to cut them some slack and check out their stuff, it was good. Drive-Thru is marketing them SO poorly tho. With ads similar to those of hellogoodbye (i.e. neon blob monsters like having a party), wtf?

Armor For Sleep - Was hooked since the first time I heard "Wanderers Guild." Since then, their debut was boring to me since It was just all of their songs re-produced, but their soph release and recent release have both been solid. Maybe its just my NJ-band loyalty shining through, though.

As for me:

See, I love Saves The Day, Bob Dylan, Saosin, and Chiodos. I also like (but am not a HUGE fan by any means) Angels and Airwaves along with The Devil Wears Prada. I guess that it's what makes everyone unique, if everyone liked the exact same music, it would be a pretty boring world.
