I feel like more motown & soul needs to be dicussed here, so let's start with one of the greatest groups of all time, in my opinion. Any fans?

Yeah, I hope this gets more than ten replies, but that's wishful thinking.

Could have sworn there was already a thread. Great group of vocalists but the Sam Cooke cover album is rather unpleasant.

Is there? Yikes, my bad, search function told me otherwise. And I've only heard the cover album once and yeah, not a fan.

Oh, I didn't bother to check. I simply assumed Craig would have been all over this way back when with a stellar 8 post thread or something along those lines.

haha i made a few threads on motown artists, but not the supremes (might have put them in a mix at some stage?). anyway... i'm a fan of songs more than the group as a whole, which is odd for me. but i'm man enough to say "where did our love go" is my jam haha

Great group and had the support of great label musicians.
My mum was big Diana Ross fan so I grew up with them.
It was the foot tapping that made it catchy!

Just about to blast 'Best Of My Love' by The Emotions...
Motown? Another example of 70s awesomeness.

You don't really love me, but you keep me hangin' on.

Might as well keep some good stuff on the first page.

Never really got the appeal of "I Hear a Symphony" until it clicked for me recently. What a perfect slice of pop.

Have this compilation. Always thoroughly enjoy it when I listen to it. Which isn't that much, sadly.

You been listening to any new classic r&b/soul lately? Your recs are always gold.

I have not. Just been revisiting stuff from the past year. The Sharon Jones joint was whatever, I don't remember any of it. Gotta get in an oldies mood and then I stay in one for a few months. Blasted "Bernadette" on the way home today and that might've been the impetus

That Jones record was an odds-and-sodds, b-side thing right?

Def not going to bother until I hear more of her stuff, then. Your name-drop of Bernadette has me thinking it's time to dig a little deeper into the Four Tops.

Haha, I was just on their What.CD page looking for an album to get. What's their classic, I think I only have comps

Tbh, I've only heard two of their more obscure, out-of-print ones, but Second Album and Reach Out would appear to be heavy hitters.
