now im sorry, i have to admit im a bit concerned.

i was looking at the bands i like (dropkick, nofx, bouncing souls, h2o, flogging, mad caddies, RBF..yadda yadda) and im concerned because sooner or later, these bands are going to "retire" or "stop" or "break up" or whatever you wanna call it.... and i dont see any new, up and coming bands of this genre or variety WHAT SO EVER.

im sorry, but either im not looking hard enough, or im not aware....there are NO FUN punk, anti-esstablishment, even ska type bands being started anymore. theyre eiter all awful pop crap, lame-o/scream-o, extremely typical indie music, or well thats basically it.

so im curiious if anyone knows where the young punks are?

why arent kids these days starting bands trying to immitate or at least are influenced by these fun, circle pit 90s punk bands?

I assume it's for the same reason kids these days aren't starting the typical 1950's rock'n'roll bands... music has progressed and evolved

its evolved? ..... to All Time Low? I dont believe thats true, because all All Time Low is, is the latest pop trend, hardly anything to do with rock n' roll.

Plus, punk bands are still extremely popular....NOFX, dropkick, bouncing souls shows still sell out tremendously...and many are more popular than the latest music trends and bands forming from them.

I just feel like that kids enjoy the glamour, girls, and popularity of starting a band in the *cough* scene...rather than spilling their guts, passion, and love into something more raw like punk music.

maybe im wrong?

I agree with this statement, so I don't think you're wrong. It's the reason why music is so shitty these days. It's not just an epidemic in the "scene" but also outside, take a look at hip-hop and rnb, what used to be a form of political activism and really a good strong genre, is now bullshit. That's just what happens...

Who are you to say that they aren't spilling their guts, passion, and love into their music?

For the most part, it's easy to tell the difference between bands that are in it for the music and fans and love of it and the ones that are in it solely for the money and fame.

The Gaslight Anthem, Bomb the Music Industry!, The Loved Ones, Flatfoot 56, The Tossers, Paint it Black, Strike Anywhere, A Wilhelm Scream, The Lawrence Arms, Against Me!, Streetlight Manifesto, Arrogant Sons of Bitches, High School Football Heroes... off the top of my head these are some bands younger than the ones you listed that you may enjoy.

for me it's a shame that there aren't appearing new bands like pennywise, lagwagon, blink 182, new found glory, green day or offspring.

Skate punk/melodic hardcore is dying...and though i like some new pop punk bands like all time low or hit the lights.....they are so poppy

These, and the 900 pounds of independent hardcore out there. Seriously, while it may not sound like typical ass three chord punk, the DIY ethic and punk roots are there. Be prepared to deal with assholes, though.

Are you sure? Haha I'm just kidding.

I think the reason for the lack of bouncing souls, NOFX, and Dropkick Murphy's type bands is because of the emo and scene trend that seems to be growing.

i like that this kid is worried about punk bands retiring and being replaced by shitty popular post-punk (not the genre). and he name drops bouncing sould who have slowly progressed into mainstream pop garbage over time.

It might not seem like there are a lot of melodic hardcore and punk bands out there that are new there is. I didn't figure this out until a few months ago but there are loads of bands and there is a fairly vibrant scene for it.
