We already have all our 100 bands, so while the recommendations are very kind, it's not gonna help. Sworry.
dang! oh well. i'm still anxious to see the final list..

Yea dude.. I thought this list was supposed to help bands who don't have a buzz. Completely the opposite for the most part. I was so happy to be a part of this last year. I'm excited for all the bands on here, I've seen a lot of friends on here and bands we've shared the stage with.

GOOD OLD WAR = AMAZING, just saw them a couple night ago on the Avalon two, their 3 part harmonies melt my ears in delight.
The Lives of Famous Men are very underrated, I wouldn't compare them to Anberlin. I think they get clumped into a genre they don't particularly fit in because of their poppiness but musically they are very created and you can hear the influence of jazz, flamenco, and 60s pop come through on their new stuff. I think AP should have put up a song from their newer cd rather than their first one.
But yea check out those bands.

While I appreciate their mention, Baroness, Fuck Buttons, and Genghis Tron are not lesser-known at all. Maybe on this site, but not in the independent music scene in general. In other words, if it's been reviewed on Pitchfork, it's not under-the-radar.
Moving Mountains is another band with a huge indie buzz, particularly on this site.
I was also incredibly dissapointed with Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate) when I checked them out a while back. Based on the bands to which they're compared I thought I'd love them. But sadly I was wrong.

For the record, I adore Mansions TONS. But ultimately, we can't make everyone happy. And there are so many bands on this life that I would stand by with as much conviction as I can muster.
I realize that. I just had to post the obligatory AP whine.
You're still a sell out, Conny

The mere fact that Fleet Foxes are on here makes me love this entire list.
Their music is pure genius.

The list is a combination of the tastes of the whole staff. But yes, I think The Morning Of is way better than 1997. Peanut butter is a love-hate thing for me haha.
ok i thought it was just your list. yeah i haven't listened to the morning of and i kinda shunned them because i listened to 1997 first and heard the strange similarities and it made me question their originality but i'll check em out.
haha yeah i was just trying to think of something clever and i landed on peanut butter... i don't know.

Check out: The Great Valley (http://www.myspace.com/thegreatvalleymusic) out of Wilmington, DE. Some great guitar hooks with a sort of pop feel.
