Show was pretty good last night. Matt and Chris both played for about an hour each, give or take 5/10 minutes. The Media Club is a pretty small place, I'd say about 80-90 people showed up. Chris came on first, He had prepared a set list but basically took crowd suggestions for more than half of what he played.
This is as best I can remember (its not in order at all):
Three Miles Down + One other from Can't Slow Down
Rocks Tonic Juice Magic
At Your Funeral
Certain Tragedy
Freakish
This is Not an Exit (my personal favorite of the night)
What Went Wrong
Coconut
Bye Bye Baby + Couple Other songs I didn't know off the New album.
Jessie + My Whetstone
Sell my Old Cloths I'm Off to Heaven
Ended with Take Our Cars Now
Theres definitely a few more in there I'm missing, mostly new STD songs I'm not similar with. As I said though, Chris took crowd suggestions so I'd expect the setlist to be fairly different each night. He sounded great in my opinion. Stay What You Are is my favorite STD album so I was pleased to hear quite a few songs from it. Sell all my old cloths was great too.
Matt's setlist I couldn't tell you much from. It consisted mostly of songs from his new solo album, a couple new amsterdam songs and 1 or 2 Get Up Kids songs. Unlike Chris, he basically played through a setlist and didn't diverge much from it. He ended with I'll Catch You, which was nice. I think alot of people were expecting to hear more Get Up Kids songs. A few people were shouting for Holiday towards the end, wish he had played it.
sweet, i actually wasn't expecting any get up kids songs, i was hoping for one, so if he plays two that would be a bonus.

Is AFI a band anymore? I thought they broke up?

I like a lot of different types of music, just because I love kevin devine doesn't mean I can't love AFI too.. what's not to get? I know they're too different genres but I am open to whatever sounds good to me.
Anyways, Kevin's set was amazing.
He played a couple new songs that I don't know the names of yet..
and also did a cover of some song.
What I remember is :
Yr Damned Old Dad
Go Haunt Someone Else
Brooklyn Boy
Burning City Smoking
Just Stay
Another Bag of Bones
Cotton Crush
You'll Only End Up Joining Them
I think that's about it.

I'll be at this tonight. REALLY hoping for some get up kids songs, and KDev will be amazing as always.
Cover song was probably a nada surf cover I'm guessing.
he played holland, 1945 (neutral milk hotel) last night at the show I went to in ybor (tampa) @ the orpheum -- though, it was sort of per request from some guy on the side of the stage.
sitting on the edge of stage right is such a perfect spot for solo kevin. as my girlfriend put it, "he's my justin timberlake"

This was a freaking amazing show.
K Dev is the man. He played "Brooklyn Boy," "Lord, I Know We Don't Talk," "Stay," "Yr Damned Old Dad," "Another Bag of Bones" and "Cotton Crush" to name a few. It was a super solid set from Kevin Devine. One of the most quality people I've every had the chance to meet.
Matt Pryor was great. Seeing and hearing him sing was taking me WAY back man. In fact, he even said the last time he was in Orlando was when they were on the Honda Civic Tour with Dashboard and Thrice, and coincidentally, was the last time I saw The Get Up Kids. So when he gave us 4 TGUK songs tonight, I was ecstatic.
We got "Overdue," "Out Of Reach," "Central Standard Time," and he closed the show with "I'll Catch You." We also got a few New Amsterdams songs including "Stay On The Phone" and he played several new songs from his solo record, including "Loralai," "Still, There's a Light," and "Confidence Man."

Wow, this may be the stupidest thing I have ever read on this website. AFI is my favorite band and I also listen to Kevin Devine. I listen to everything from Blink 182 to Wu Tang Clan to Lamb of God to Bruce Springsteen to everything in between.
Please grow up. People don't just listen to one genre.

I thought the Matt Pryor show tonight was great until I saw that fucking setlist.
That's amazing.
6 GUK songs and a Reggie cover? I was tempted to yell Reggie cause I have a recorded version of him playing Girl, Why'd You Run Away...but I thought he'd get mad or something. Plus I'm not much of a yelling person. I did yell "Terrible Twos!" but he didn't hear me even though I was like 5 feet away.

The show at Bowery tonight was pretty good. Kevin closed this show. Started at around 11:15 and ended around 1:10. Fucking sweet. Oh, and Jesse Lacey was there too. He sung "Cotton Crush" and "Jesus Christ" with Kevin.
CursedCarolers
09/06/08, 01:02 AM
yeah it ended at 1:10 which I gotta say sucked. They should've started earlier. The D train stopped running and I ended up having to take a 30 dollar cab.
I'd say Kevin Devine is one of my top 5 favorite songwriters or musicians and the Get Up Kids are one of my top 5 favorite bands...so the bill alone was enough to make me happy. but the performances were spectacular too.
I just wanted Kevin to play Carnival and he opened with it...amazing. Who was the girl he brought out for Murphy's Song?
odizzle_word
09/06/08, 08:38 AM
I think her name was Jamie. I remember him going "Jay-maaay, this is Jay-maaay." She had a good voice. I like the duet they did.

It sounds like the turnout at these shows has not been that great. Boston had a good number of people, but Providence not so much. I keep thinking Kevin Devine should be more popular than he is. And with The Get Up Kids so popular I would have thought more kids would come out to this.
