Saves The Day (http://www.savestheday.com) hope to record their next album sometime early next year. They have a few songs already finished for the effort and they say we can expect the new album by next summer.

excited would be an understatement. i think. any word on what kind of style this album will be?

With the rate of how their albums have been, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a piano and acoustic guitar.

I'm kind of relieved it's so far off- take their time and do a good job. (See blink-182 and a year of work). Plus, so many albums coming out that I'll be broke until then anyways.

the only reason im sorry im leaving was any good was because it came right after Cant Slow Down and right before Through Being Cool. In Reverie sucked and i hope STD comes back to life and starts playing rock music again.

wouldn't it just suck for you and the rest of those who think like you if the 24 year old Conley just never wrote pop punk again and focused completely on indie/brit pop/dream pop type stuff? oh whatever will you guys do?

Even Bob Nanna said this about In Reverie: "Yeah...I don't know what the fuck they were trying to do."

Saves the Day do not do dream pop well. Nor would they do Brit-pop well.

Saves the Day do pop-punk well.

This does not necessarily mean that Saves the Day must rip off Lifetime on this upcoming record in order to regain their fans.

They have to put out something that isn't so obviously rooted in a high-pitched version of Weezer-esque, corpse-like geek rock.

i personally liked in reverie. yeah, it was different, but it was a good different. saves the day has chagned their sound with each album. that's what makes them so good.

and did you not go to that "secret site" that in reverie offered? on there was an acoustic song chris did during the recording of in reverie called coconut. it's really good. i'd suggest downloading it.

i still say the artist's primary responsibility is to themselves, so if Conley wanted to write what he did, let him, no one's forcing anybody to buy it.

in reverie was a solid record. i'm not saying it was their best work, or the best at what it was trying to be (whether you can figure it out or not), but i think it was good and has a couple really good songs on it. i'm not saying a "true fan" has to love everything the band does, but a true fan will try and find the good instead of relegating himself to feelings of betrayal and disappointment. i'm also not saying that all progress is necessarily good, but i'd rather see a serious artist try something new and fall flat on his face then just stick to what he knows b/c that's where the money is.

they don't do it well (in your opinion) now, but who's to say they won't ever do it well?

isn't the reason chris sang the way he did on "in reverie" because his throat was hurting him from changing it for the past albums? i heard that somewhere, but i'm not sure if it's true or not.

oh yeah and i'm excited as well for this.

with all the talk about how bad everyone thinks in reverie was, i am just anticipating what genre this album will fall under. i am just anxious to see their growth since their last album.

i personally loved in reverie...

and for those who dont at least respect the album for the fact that the band can write something else besides the generic pop punk you've all grown accustomed to and refuse to let go....

saves the day is an amazing band, and deserve more credit than they're getting in here. look at bands 15 years from now and see where they got their influence from.

New Saves the Day is like if Shaquille O'Neal quit basketball to play soccer. He still sucks at soccer even if he is smiling and having the time of his life.

The only thing close to weezeresque/geek rock music that this band put out was Stay What You Are. Are the earlier albums better? Yes. But talent-wise? Hell no. The earlier albums are albums that essentially anyone could have written. In Reverie actually shows that Chris can get technical. Anyone who can't see that a 23 year old probaly doesn't want to play power chords anymore is ignorant, or at least naive.

Glad to see so many people that actually appreciate In Reverie. It was a great release as far as I'm concerned. So far as the new record is concerned Chris says that they will "bring the rock" they just aren't sure what type of rock they are brining or something like that. They said they aren't sure what they are right now, so who knows that that means? they may revert to their more aggressive sound? they may get even more dream rocky. who knows? with std, you never know..until you know.

in reverie sucked. that my opinion. thats how it's always gonna be. if their new album is good (like their first 4 albums were) then i will say it is good and i will continue to say In Reverie sucked.

In Reverie is pure fucking genius. Although SWYA is still my favorite, In Reverie is just so damn good. It seems as if narrow minded people just can't quite see what Chris was trying to do with that album.

Is there a difference between "sucked" and "I dont like it" anymore? It seems like the word "suck" can now replace a full essay on why someones opinion is slanted on a certain item. And, why do you all keep having the same topic. With every post about Saves The Day, this is what comes out of it. (over and over and over.....)

"SAVES THE DAY SUCKS NOW"

"WHEN ARE THEY GONNA REWRITE THROUGH BEING COOL?"

"IN REVERIE SUCKS"

and so on....

Get over it. I love the fact that they progress. Saves the Day is one of my top 10 favorite bands of all time (and the only pop band on that list). I always look forward to hearing their new material, because I know its going to be catchy, well crafted, and/or speaks from heart. Chris and the rest of the band write beautiful imagary that really challenges the way you look at everything around you. All that while making you want to dance, sing along, and sway the whole time you listen to it. I cant say that about a lot of bands out their today.

Here's the things for all the critics... If you dont like the music, then go start your own band. I hope you can take all that wasted energy in hating to start a pretty shitty xHardcorex band with no messege. MOSH BRO!

I really hope that this new STD album isnt like there last. I like there other lyrics so much better then there new shit they had on "In Reverie" even though i know some people enjoyed that album somehow... that CD kinda disapointed me. But I really hope this one is like "Through Being Cool" or "Stay What You Are" that would make basically my whole year. :)

I think what makes them great is that they have the talent to change their sound as they mature. But of course, they are best at playing punk. I would love if their next album is as fast and fun as Can't Slow Down and Through Being Cool, but i'm sure whatever it is will it will be great. I can't wait.

though i am a bigger fan of their older stuff. anything from this band is good. even though i was slightly disappointed with "in reverie", it was still a hell of a lot better than other cd's that year. i guess saves the day just has a very high standard in my opinion.

i like in reverie. it goes good along with what im mostly listening to now anyways (shins, flaming lips, belle and sebastian, weakerthans, grandaddy, etc), while their old stuff goes good with what i like to listen to also (taking back sunday, brand new, thursday, coheed, moneen, get up kids, etc), so its all good....indeed it is... so :face45:
