we were really close to dating and she just starts dating some other dude. and after that every time i mention "us" to her she just got weirded out and changed the subject. Her relationship with that dude turned out shitty and she admits now she should've dated me, but now we're just too close of friends and it would be too weird.

That EXACT same thing happened ot me back in January. It sucked so bad. The girl the guy I was all googly eyed for turned out to be a fucking tool and he dumped her. They never want what's right for them, they say they want someone sweet, nice and caring but they end up choosing douchebags. I don't know what to tell you to avoid being in the friend zone because I constantly get shoved into it myself. Just keep being a good guy though, hopefully some chick will wake up and gratify you for it.

I actually think thats horrible advice. Some girls are oblivious, so, you really have to say it. Otherwise they will never know. Because flirting and just being friends is oftentimes hard to differentiate. Both include lots of laughing, touching, ect.
