View Full Version : Underrated Albums

Throwback

What do you guys think that some of the most underrated (for whatever reason being) albums are? Here are my choices:

Catch 22 - Dinosaur Sounds
Everyone practically instantly lambasted it because its not the C22 of the Keasbey Nights days so its basically ignored but this is one of the best punk/ska albums and they use their horns so awesomely. Plus the guitars rock.

The Format - Interventions & Lullabies
Single most ignored album that deserves megastar treatment. Try not to listen to 'On Your Porch' and declare as one of the most beautiful songs ever.

Some of you will probably think this is stupid or done numerous times but I just felt like saying it.

Saves the Day-In Reverie

I hated it at first but if you give it some time it grows on you. Now its one of my favorites.

Haha, I'll keep that in mind next time... but dry humor is just too funny sometimes.

Nice Thrice quote in the sig by the way. "Phoenix Ignition," "A Torch to End All Torches," and "T&C" are all kickass.

The Rocket Summer - Calender Days

So so good. I love The Rocket Summer, although they're never really mentioned that much.

Although it was just released a couple of weeks ago I'll go with the new Rilo Kiley album. It is really really really good.

I have to agree that The Rocket Summer is very underrated.Everyone talks about how MAx of say anything is so great because he plays all instruments and stuff (im not talking shit, i love max) but so does bryce. He plays every instrument, produced the album, everything.

Also, limbeck is very underrated, along with the format. And i would have to say Phantom Planet which has one of the best albums of the year.

Fenix Tx - Lechuza
Someone already said this and I heart them. Musical diversity rocks and none of old Fenix Tx can touch this.

New Amsterdams - Worse for the Wear
Pretty, pretty music. 'Hanging For Hope' is a great tune for the kids to enjoy.

Oh and there's this one other album...Deja Nintendo or something? A few kids made a bit of a deal over it about a year ago. Its pretty decent, you should give it a spin.

Foo Fighters - The Colour & The Shape

totally agree. I feel that Foo Fighters and 311 are two rock bands that are amazing and completely underrated. I own and listen to all of the albums from both bands and love them.

And back to the beginning, Catch 22- Dinosaur Sounds is an awesome record and was wondering why it wasn't getting more pub. It's not Keasbey Nights but definitely as solid in my opinion.

i'm only thinking as far as this year again, but i don't think As Tall As Lions gets enough credit, or Brazil for that matter, i think both released excellent albums that get very little time

it was "Fall Out Boy's Evening Out with Your Girlfriend"

this album really grew on me, it is pretty raw. they don't usually play songs off of it at shows, but i like this album too.

favorite track: honorable mention

they played "moving pictures" at the hollister show and "honorable mention" at their halloween show in the burbs of chicago. i think i got the impression from an interview somewhere that they are kind of embarassed by their old stuff. i think a quote from the DVD was, "we were the worst band ever, playing the worst music ever."
